I am exposed & driving 'Loyalty' / 'Engagement' programs since ages for brands like LG, Toshiba, Hindware & Michelin as a Marketing custodian. But had never delved deep into 'Loyalty' as a word / expression / emotion. To boost content consumption, we need to prioritize simplicity and user experience, taking a cue from traditional cable TV - plug and play, easy peasy! Let's focus on making customers' lives easy by: Building seamless platforms Enabling API access for aggregators Fostering collaboration across the OTT ecosystem Inspired by ONDC, let's think long-term: Make content available on aggregator platforms with direct streaming integration Embrace a cost-per-stream model, ensuring creators get paid for their everytime customers stream their content. Let's not focus solely on short-term revenue gains from MGs. Instead, build a robust cost-per-subscriber model, investing in world-class technology and solving distribution challenges by endless bundling opportunities. Choose a leader who inspires progress..💪 During the 2024 elections, the spending patterns between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Indian National Congress have shown significant differences, especially in the digital ad space. The BJP has considerably outspent Congress on digital platforms. •BJPs spend: Between January and March 2024, the BJP spent over ₹37 crore on online advertisements. In terms of ad spending on Google and Meta platforms, the BJP's expenditure was approximately ₹54.9 crore on Google ads •Congress's spend: Congress spend up to ₹12.2 lakh during January and March 2024 on online advertisements. As spending on Google, Meta ads Congress spent around ₹34.4 crore. •Overall preview: Congress had increased their digital spending compared to previous elections, yet it still lags far behind the BJP. Despite Congress increasing their ads expenditure yet BJP's total expenditure on online ads remains significantly higher. Overall, while Congress has made efforts to narrow the digital ad spending gap, the BJP's investment in online advertising remains substantially greater, reflecting a strategic emphasis on digital outreach in their campaign efforts. THE WORLD OF CELEBRITY BRANDS Kroll is out with its annual survey on celebrities once again. And Virat Kohli in spite of his relatively decreasing fortunes in cricket is no 1 again beating the top film stars. What is interesting is that almost 50% of the ad spends are now digital. India now really looks like a mature market for digital. Such is the force of celebrity endorsement in India that the top 25 in terms of television presence had endorsed 311 brands over 22 categories. This pretty much makes India I think a celebrity brand market. Celebrity endorsements dominate brand advertising. And often marketers don't even care about the fit of the brand to the celebrities personality. The top 3 brands advertised on television are Harpic by Akshay Kumar, Lux soap by Anushka Sharma, Kareena Kapur and ( gulp!) Virat Kohli and Veet endorsed by Sara Ali Khan. Of course Viraj is not the first male to feature in a Lux Soap ad. Shahrukh Khan appeared in a Lux soap ad back in 2005. In the West, they found that male celebrities did not work for Lux Soap after they tried Paul Newman in a Lux film ages ago. But obviously India has discarded that learning because celebrities are a potent force in the country. Gender hardly seems to matter? Another new trend is that celebrities are now entering our board rooms with interests in start ups and other ventures. Celebrities as entrepreneurs are a new trend. But is mass advertising with celebrities resulting in fatigue. Often one tends to remember the celebrity rather than the brand. As the overdependence of celebrities for Indian brands becomes more and more prominent, one has to see if this trend is deteriorating the quality of advertising ideas in India since they are so celebrity dependent. #advertisingandmarketing #celebrityendorsement #brandmanagement
