Season of Giving NEWaukee Board Member

NEWaukee launched its second Seasons of Giving Campaign with 6 board members to head up 12 volunteering activities during the holiday season. During the Penfield Children's Center holiday party our group was spread out doing different tasks: from helping in the coat room, gift room to helping with all the crafts and face painting, handing out snacks, getting our donor matts signed and helping afterwards with gift unwrapping and logistics and cleanup.

Penfield's children come from some of the most economically challenged families in Milwaukee; pair that with 80% of the kids having a special needs diagnosis and the added stress and costs- the day was a gift, a time of magic, and a rare family time for all.

As the kickoff event for the 2014 Season of Giving we supported the META House. With about half a dozen volunteers and gallons upon gallons of paint we finished a 3 bedroom apartment so a new family could move in with hopes for a better life.
