      As a Committee Specialist I was responsible for managing inquiries that this cross-party committee of MPs undertakes. This involved scoping, drafting terms of reference, analysing written evidence, briefing MPs for oral evidence sessions, drafting the final report, and preparing press releases and speeches.

      Inquiries managed include:

      - Japanese Knotweed and the Built Environment
      - Clinical Trials Transparency…

    The British Ecological Society is the oldest ecology society in the world and celebrated its centenary in 2013. As Policy Manager I was responsible for the Society's policy positions and submissions to Defra, Select Committees and other public bodies.

    In 2013 I worked to relaunch the Society's 'Ecological Issues' series, which aims to bring a policy-relevant ecology topic to the attention of non-specialist scientists and policy makers. The first issue in the new series focused on the impacts of extreme events on freshwater ecosystems, and was launched at a parliamentary event in Westminster in June 2013 and at the Scottish Parliament in September.

    The BES is a founder member of the Natural Capital Initiative, and I was a member of the secretariat for this project and the steering group.
