How can you effectively network at a pitch competition?
Plan – Know who will be in attendance and define who you need to meet and why. Attend – Arrive early as the 1st priority when attending any event should be to make it a point to meet the host(s), key sponsors, moderators, panelists, and judges. It is easier to have conversations when you and the individuals in the room are fresh, aware, and attentive. At the end of the event, everyone is bidding for those individuals' time. Review – Review/recap, while memories & and conversations are fresh. Follow-up - Reach out to all those you met. Don’t forget to thank your host(s) as they are key when you need help with any follow-ups and connections. They have all the information of everyone in the room. They should become your best friend(s).
