It is structured around seven performance categories, or “petals,” representing aspects of sustainable design: Place, Water, Energy, Health and Happiness, Materials, Equity and Beauty.   • Jeffeson Health Cherry Hill Hospital

    -

    Lead designer and client engagement leader for 240,000 SF inpatient bed tower addition to the existing Jefferson Health Cherry Hill Hospital. The new bed tower adds 30 critical care and 60 acute care beds, plus diagnostics and imaging services, pharmacy, a new cafeteria, outdoor dining area and a healing garden.

  • A Place To Go

    -

    Organized the volunteer effort to raise money to design and construct a biogas toilet for a school in Machakos, Kenya. Led the team in design, marketing, communication, and fundraising strategies. Worked with young staff to implement a full-spectrum process that involved cross-collaboration, design, social media, and community outreach to fund the project. The team reached it's goal to raise $15,000 in September of 2013. Construction is slated to begin in August 2014.

  • The Medical Park at Prince Sultan Cultural Center

    Lead designer and client engagement leader for the project. The Medical Park at Prince Sultan Cultural Centre is based on a tertiary care model that focuses on total wellness of the patient. CallisonRTKL was brought in to help bring this conceptual idea to life, and the design team incorporated these ideas throughout the concept. The layout represents the patient journey and features a main promenade, wellness plaza and a grand canopy that utilizes green design elements. The canopy will serve…

    Lead designer and client engagement leader for the project. The Medical Park at Prince Sultan Cultural Centre is based on a tertiary care model that focuses on total wellness of the patient. CallisonRTKL was brought in to help bring this conceptual idea to life, and the design team incorporated these ideas throughout the concept. The layout represents the patient journey and features a main promenade, wellness plaza and a grand canopy that utilizes green design elements. The canopy will serve to create shade and provide a comfortable micro-climate transition between the conditioned spaces. The hospital makes a bold statement that serves to address and acknowledge the role of healthy lifestyle decisions in conjunction with traditional medical care in the path to overall personal and community wellness.

  • The Looper

    Organized the competition team and facilitated the design process, research, and internal/external communication strategy. Learned a thing or two about living machines, aquaponics, and bioremediation. The Looper won first place in the snoLEAF Cascadia Big Green Greenhouse Competition, SXSW ECO Place By Design Global Potential Award, and an AIA DC Unbuilt Award.

    Awarded the 2013 Legacy Award for Collaboration for work on The Looper competition. The project was chosen as the recipient for this award due to it's grass-roots led design process and team collaboration between RTKL employees from four different offices. The project demonstrated a commitment to process and external involvement by way inclusive and interactive charrettes and digital storytelling and feedback loops.

    ARCADIS and UN Habitat

    Awarded the ARCADIS and UN Habitat Shelter Hero award for involvement in the Shelter program. Actions involved speaking at a UN Habitat Conference for Sustainable Rating Systems in Nairobi, Kenya, and coordinating volunteer efforts for earthquake relief efforts in Haiti.

  • Archibald Rogers Legacy Award for Social Action

    Awarded the 2010 Legacy Award for Social Action for volunteer work with Architecture for Humanity. Project submitted was a school design workshop in Kenya. Traveled to Kenya and hosted a design workshop with students, teachers, and community members to facilitate a hands-on design process with the users.
