BLEISURE TRAVEL TREND FOR 1 IN 3 AMERICANS Americans who travel for work say their company is ramping up travel, and 51% say that it’s likely that they will travel more this year than last year. Yet it’s not all work: 31% try to extend the length of their work trips into personal vacations – creating the “bleisure travel” trend. WHEN THE BOSS IS AWAY, WORKERS ARE LESS PRODUCTIVE During summer, 41% of full-time employed adults report being less productive, and 35% say they often slack off while their boss is on vacation. AI IS THE NEW TRAVEL AGENT AI is increasingly creating dream vacations – with 70% of Americans either using or planning to use AI for travel planning, and 20% of 18- to 34-year-olds already doing so. Nielsen recently released their 2024 Annual Marketing Report. While the report has a definite bias in support of traditional media like TV and radio (which Nielsen measures), its findings underscore some broader trends and watch-outs that companies should be aware of when planning their marketing mix.   One is the importance of planning your marketing tactics to support your marketing goals. Nielsen cautions that companies should be mindful of over-investing in down-funnel tactics at the expense of top-of-funnel channels that build brand awareness and attract new customers, but the main takeaway here is that your tactics should be aligned to the results you're trying to achieve.   Another important point from the report is that you should plan your marketing tactics holistically, ensuring that they support and feed into one another. While Nielsen advocates not putting all your budget into only a few tactics, which I don't necessarily agree with (better to do a few things well than a lot of things poorly, in my opinion), it's always important to think about your tactics as a whole and how they work together.   And finally, the report underscores the need for comprehensive measurement of your marketing tactics, tracking their performance together and not just looking at each in its own silo.
