There's many people that may be comfortable or accustomed to living with their mental health.. they deal with it. Some of the reasons are: Resistance to Change: People often resist change because it can be uncomfortable or challenging. Facing one's mental health issues may require confronting difficult emotions, past traumas, or deeply ingrained patterns of behavior, which can be daunting. Stigma and Fear: There can be a significant stigma associated with mental health disorders, leading individuals to avoid seeking help due to fear of judgment or discrimination. This fear can be stronger than the desire for change. Lack of Awareness or Denial: Some individuals may not fully recognize the extent of their mental health issues or may be in denial about their need for help. This lack of awareness can prevent them from seeking change. Comfort in Familiarity: Even if a disorder causes distress, the familiarity of the symptoms and coping mechanisms can create a sense of comfort. Access to Resources: While the text mentions free resources, there may still be barriers to access, such as availability, accessibility, or the ability to navigate the mental health system. Complexity of Treatment: Mental health disorders can be complex and require sustained effort over time. The process of change may involve multiple approaches, including therapy, medication, lifestyle changes, and more, which can be overwhelming. Belief in Self-Sufficiency: Some individuals may believe they should be able to manage their mental health without external help, which can prevent them from actively pursuing change. Over the last century, there have been numerous breakthroughs in the field of mental health that have significantly improved the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of various disorders. Here are ten key advancements that have had a profound impact on mental health care including - Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy - Pharmacological Treatments - Community Mental Health Movement - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) - Family and Couples Therapy - Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) - Mindfulness-Based Therapies - Neuroimaging and Brain Mapping - Telehealth and Digital Mental Health - Early Intervention Programs The relationship between social media use and mental health, particularly among teenagers, has become a significant area of concern and research in recent years, suggesting that excessive or problematic use of social media can contribute to a range of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, body image concerns, and sleep disturbances. I think that while there isn't a mental health unicorn like Airbnb, several companies and startups have made significant strides in improving mental health care through innovative approaches and technologies. Here are a few notable examples: Talkspace, Headspace, Calm, BetterHelp, Lyra Health, Woebot, Pear Therapeutics, Big Health.

Before we read anything, our brain scans for shapes and colors first. 📌A study revealed that 55–78% noticed increased recall, retention, and acceleration in learning based on colors. Trends can influence the meaning behind a color and it can evolve over time. 📌White dresses were used in weddings only after Queen Victoria used one. What if You Could Hear Colors? 🎨🎧 I just read about a fascinating project at Milan Design Week, created by Chromasonic for Google. It's called "Making Sense of Color." This exhibit lets visitors hear colors through specific sounds, simulating the condition of synesthesia. Red lights emit low sounds, while blues are higher-pitched, creating an immersive display. I hate GQ Magazine but this article is interesting. Maybe authenticity doesn't matter? Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe it's why so many trends are inauthentic. Gorpcore (Goretex when not needed), Athleisure (tights, "running shoes" while not doing any athletics), etc.. Maybe it's why fast fashion that looks good in a photo but is shitty in real life is popular? Maybe it's why "dupes" (aka knockoffs) are somehow seen as OK? Your color palette is more than just eye candy 😍 Color is one of the strongest visual cues in your design toolbox because each hue has strong associations and meaning. But choosing the “right” colors on paper doesn’t guarantee that they’ll work together. If you’re experiencing this at your nonprofit, your color palette may be off-balance. A successful color palette needs contrast – a balance of light and dark tones – for visual interest and accessibility. If your color palette is feeling "one note," here are 3 ways to add contrast: - Use one accent color - Add neutrals or tints - Deepen your darks Contrast is important for your color palette and ensures that your designs are accessible. Good contrast allows colors next to each other and still be readable, even if the reader has a visual impairment or color blindness. Pro Tip: Before publishing or downloading a Canva design, test it using the Design Accessibility Checker. Open the file you want to check, click on File > Settings > Check design accessibility. Canva's AI will test the contrast of your text and even provide alternative recommendations based on your Brand Kit colors. What brand colors make you green with envy? Recently I’ve posted print designs with CRABS and SHRIMPS, so when I saw that the next Spoonflower Design Challenge is “Crustacean Core”, I thought, hmm, time for LOBSTERS! FUN FACT: The claws of mature lobsters are different, one is the larger “crusher” claw (this dominant claw can be either left or right) that moves slowly and is used to break up hard food; the other is a smaller “pincher/cutter” claw that moves faster and is used to tear up soft food (they can even catch small fish with it!) What a fulfilling week of connecting, reflecting, and evolving 🌀 Explored being neurodivergent and creating a collab with Joanne Singh, CPA, and the Matriarchal Business Collective around freestyling as a tool for heart and mind opening to play. Spoke with Josh and Savannah Keith Gress about working in the education system to actualize the potential of schools as hubs for community wholeness and equity (you two should connect!) Co-hosted a session about diving into intuition through our work as systems change agents with Lisa Worked with Sev around developing objectives/key results around the value Silvi is adding to the reforestation movement to build on metrics of success. Had a mind-bending session around the fractal and non-linear nature of regenerative value adding processes with Regenesis Institute for Regenerative Practice. Kicked off "Project Tipping Point" hosted by the wonderful Ryan (Ra) James and experienced a sacred remembrance of myself as an inseparable part of earth. Inspired me to say "thank you" to my water and hang out with the trees in my yard. Finally, ended the week with an inspiring conversation with Indy - we're cooking up some paradigm shifting experiences for investors. The path is uncertain, the challenge of continually expanding my perspective is REAL. On the backend of all this beauty is the constant practice of deconditioning myself from all the mechanical, linear, and hierarchical ways of thinking. Letting the aspects of myself that are holding on go, so I can surrender into the great mystery of the Creator, the Spirit that permeates all life. Letting my heart guide my mind. Always saying thank you to my water. ❤️‍🔥 onwards, fellow earth beings.
