Disaster and Humanitarian Relief
Partnering with two other working Moms we found ourselves deeply affected by the Hurricane Sandy devastation. We couldn't sit back and do nothing. We teamed together and found an empty warehouse which we filled with donations over the course of a week. We started with 4,000 square feet of space and over the course of a few days were utilizing over 20,000 square feet of space. We partnered with Gentle Giant and Bob's Discount Furniture to help bring the donations to the affected areas in NY. We coordinated with over 100 children who volunteered as well as about 100 adults. Donations came from every state in New England from both individuals and corporations. It was a viral effort through Facebook, Twitter, ESPN, Local news and word of mouth. Ultimately we collected over 46 tons of donations which were delivered by 3 tractor trailers and 2 box trucks to affected families.

I led the largest fund raising effort for my childrens' elementary school in North Andover, MA. Each year we organized a silent auction, live auction and entertainment for 150 people. We raised over $12,000 in the first year and it increased each year. Last year we raised over $15,000. This money goes towards whatever the students need to update the classrooms and get access to new materials. This role required coordination between volunteer parents, teachers, school district and donors.…
