“Lizz is a great resource to help strategize a workable UX project plan and can translate jargon into useable requirements that speak to professional groups -- regardless of skill set or experience levels. I enjoy bouncing ideas off of her as she's run projects of all sizes and scopes and can see it from far above or at ground level. I've relied on Lizz's unique perspective a number of times over the years on a variety of different projects and she has always been able to identify the core issues and come up with realistic and efficient solutions quickly. Her background in webpage design, coding and content editing give her a broad view of all aspects of the project, but it is in UX project management and long-term strategic planning where she really shines.”

🔄 First observations on My Open to Work Journey 🔄 As I continue my job search, I've encountered an interesting trend: a noticeable increase in messages that appear to be automated or from bots. These messages often express interest but ultimately direct me to external portals or request personal information. This is a stark contrast to my experience a year and a half ago, where such occurrences were rare. I'm curious to hear from my network: Have you noticed a similar pattern? What strategies have you found effective in navigating and distinguishing genuine opportunities from automated outreach? Thank you in advance for your insights and advice! #OpenToWork #JobSearch #ProfessionalNetworking #CareerAdvice #AgileCommunity

“I want to have a seat at the table” “I want to carve out time to work with my PM on what we build, not just launch and outbound” Too often, product marketing is downstream of strategy and what is built. How can PMMs correct this? One tool is narrative design. Product Marketing leader Marcus Andrews shares how he built and utilized strategic narratives at HubSpot and Pendo to influence the product roadmap. In this post he covers: 1️⃣ What is a strategic narrative and why is it so important? 2️⃣ How to develop and implement a strategic narrative 3️⃣ Common mistakes to avoid when developing a strategic product narrative. 4️⃣ How to bring a strategic narrative to life externally. A Big THANK YOU to Marcus for penning this first guest post for Demand! ❤️ https://lnkd.in/ggP8C-HN

Ever felt like your Product Backlog was a bit... stale? It might be missing some DEO. DEO can be defined as follows: 🔵 Detailed Appropriately: Prioritize clarity for top items while allowing lower-priority ones to be less defined. 🔵 Emergent: Encourage an evolving backlog that keeps your team adaptable and on their toes. 🔵 Ordered: An organized backlog ensures everyone stays focused on what's important. Don't let your Backlog become a chaotic mess. Make it a well-oiled machine with DEO. Swipe for more and drop your best Backlog management tips in the comments below. #ProductBacklog #ProductOwner #Agile

Like a full-time Chief Design Officer (CDO), a fractional CDO ensures design expertise lives in the C-suite and is able to influence the entire organization from the top down. Unlike a full-time CDO, however, they are often also able to bring a more objective perspective to the table. Coming in from the outside, they bring the benefit of an external perspective, broader know-how (e.g., experience working in different industries), and a network of relationships with experts across fields and sectors. Is a fractional chief design officer right for your business? By Fast Company https://lnkd.in/gtQE7WNs "Whether you are a startup or an established small to mid-size business, a fractional CDO can be an effective way to leverage the unique benefits of working with a CDO without the associated cost."

Hmmm. "When you are always late, change the definition of being on time." Does anyone else find this dishonest? As program managers, we often pad our calendar or effort estimated to account for slips (due to complexity or whatever). Aren't these fudge factors dishonest? If you want to improve, sure, account for unknown complexities or events, but it seems that these "corrective tools" side step the root problem that is poor historical measurement applied to future estimation. Then again, the "Scotty Rule of Buffer Time" does make one look amazing when you precede the target.

Earlier this week, I encountered yet another accessibility overlay/widget, and my blood boiled. It doesn't matter if these companies market themselves as a fix for compliance, a solution for those who can't afford their own access technology, or whatever else. The truth is they cause harm and benefit no one. So, let's talk about it from the perspective of a screen reader user, shall we? To start, many of these pieces of code lead to automatically generated alt text, and while generative AI has opened up the potential of such alt text to be actually useful the more simplistic versions offered by most overlays benefit no one. Second, anyone who makes it required to use a mouse to enable their screen reader settings clearly has absolutely no idea how screen readers work and could benefit from consultation with actual, qualified people with disabilities. Lastly, 90 percent of websites are difficult enough to navigate all by themselves for screen reader users, let's not even get started on the additional accessibility issues these overlays create. Maybe they are less expensive than remediating a website that is broken for accessibility, and maybe they seem to be a quick solution. However, there is no quick solution better than building in true accessibility from the ground up. So, know better and learn better with resources like the white paper link below. Then you can do better and help others do the same. www.overlayfalseclaims.com
