Rich Birhanzel, Accenture Global Health Industry Lead sat down with Xtelligent Healthcare on their podcast Healthcare Strategies to share his insights surrounding GenAI and workforce management at HIMSS 2024. The conversation focused on the potential of AI in healthcare, its responsible use, and privacy concerns. Birhanzel underscored the urgency of addressing the global crisis of patient access due to workforce shortages. He stressed the importance of automation through generative AI. However, this approach may require a cognitive shift as it will change providers' workflows, Birhanzel acknowledged. He emphasized the need for harmonization between technology and human workflows. Key takeaways from today's conversation with Chairman Dave Camp, Rohit Kumar, and Kathy Nieland: 1) Business execs have a tangible opportunity to help DC policymakers shape AI policy, if they share the full story of the ways they are using it in their enterprises, and the impact it could have on their workforce. 2) If (and it's a big if) a business chooses to weigh in on social issues, they should pick a single issue early--before a crisis erupts, ensure it aligns to corporate strategy, stick to it, and don't pick up other issues along the way.

According to a recent PwC Pulse Survey, 88% of executives say they "struggle to capture value from their technology investments," and 85% said it’s a "challenge to update operating models to support a new vision." In comes, "Digital Value Transformation." Digital value transformation offers a comprehensive model focused on accelerated value delivery and relentless value creation, helping organizations achieve tangible outcomes such as increased revenue and improved customer experience. The article is very "big consultant-y" but the list of top challenges are spot on. A long overdue thank you to Susan Angele, Inna Kuznetsova, and Cali Williams Yost for the awesome #futureofwork panel discussion at A Morning of Insights & Innovation, a Women Corporate Directors event hosted by KPMG US Ignition and the Board Leadership Center. We talked candidly about the negative impact of stale #returntooffice policies, including the importance of #transparency and accountability for continuously innovating how we think of #hybrid and #remote work. We touched on #AI adoption challenges at scale, including new ways of learning and disruption to standard #apprenticeship models. I recently spoke with Insigniam Quarterly about how CXOs can leverage new technology to drive the business forward. I talked about the eight key principles that I think are imperative to getting this right: 1️⃣  Think big, start small, scale fast:  Begin with ambitious goals but start with manageable projects, scaling up quickly once initial successes are achieved. 2️⃣  Organise around an opportunity or problem statement:  Create agile, flexible structures within the organisation, with cross-functional teams of experts that can operate with the speed and adaptability of a start-up. 3️⃣  Learn from the best experiences: Draw inspiration from the best practices and experiences of leading innovators versus feeling like you need to design everything from scratch. 4️⃣  Tap into customer emotion:  Understand and leverage the emotional drivers of customer behaviour to support the design of compelling products, processes and services. 5️⃣  Be unconstrained at first:  Encourage creative thinking without the limitations of traditional constraints. 6️⃣  Test, learn, test again:  Embrace an iterative approach, continuously testing with real customers/end users and learning to refine ideas and strategies. 7️⃣  Find the fastest path to insights:  Focus on quickly gathering and analysing data to inform decision-making. 8️⃣  Doing is the best kind of thinking: Prioritise action and experimentation as a means of discovering what works best. I had the most fun last night at the Chief DC Clubhouse, co-presenting with Sindhu Adini about #GenAI in the #Workplace. It was such a privilege to speak with other executive women about the basics GenAI, application in the flow of work, responsible AI, prompt engineering, extensibility, leadership in a time of disruptive technologies, and how to just get started! We did some live show-and-tell and it was eye opening to get a #M365Copilot simple summary of Amy Mertz Brown (use case: prep me for my upcoming lunch with Amy, and what might be top of mind for someone in her role). We also asked Copilot to explain GenAI hallucinations in a way my octogenarian mother-in-law could understand. Great response that I think anyone can grasp: Certainly! Here’s how you can explain GenAI hallucinations to your mother-in-law in a non-technical way: - Imagine a smart typewriter that tries to write stories on its own, but sometimes it gets mixed up and writes things that aren’t true. - It’s like when someone tells a story and accidentally adds something that didn’t happen, because they’re trying to make the story interesting. - We just have to remember to double-check the stories it writes, like we would with a tall tale from a friend. 😊 #DigitalWorkplace #ModernWork #womenleaders
