“This is to certify that I, Hamza Tayebi (Professor of English and Cultural Studies at the International University of Rabat and the Executive Director of the MENA Studies Division at Takamul Centre for Studies and Research - Morocco), have personally known and worked with Mrs. Lauren Grant. It is with great pleasure that I am writing this letter of recommendation to accompany her application to your organization. As her supervisor and the Executive Director of the MENA Studies Division of the Takamul Centre, I can readily say that Lauren is admirably dedicated to her work and to human rights in the MENA region, with a particular focus on the Maghreb. Her attention to details is superb and her writing skills make her an invaluable asset to our organization, which I trust will be to the benefit of any employer that Lauren seeks to work with. I was pleased to learn not only that Lauren has recently completed her MA in Human Rights, graduating top in her class from the Legal Studies Department of Central European University, but that she also plans to continue her education by applying to Ph.D. programs in the near future. This was hardly surprising to me, bearing in mind her ambitious and dynamic character, which could hardly leave anyone insensitive to how satisfactory her educational and scientific performance is. Lauren is extremely intelligent, a dedicated supervisee, and takes direction very well. Her pleasing personality, sense of humor, and open-mindedness should enable her to work in various cultural settings. I cannot overstate how Lauren’s clear sightedness and the depth of her intellect have been instrumental in my ability to share an important critical perspective with my classes at UIR and with all of my colleagues affiliated to the Takamul Centre for Studies and Research. She is one of the best supervisees I have ever had the pleasure of working with! As the Program Coordinator to the Human Rights, Migration and Conflict Resolution (HMCR) Program of the MENA Studies Division, Lauren has demonstrated her propensity for successful project management, leadership and program development and coordination. Lauren has impressively cultivated meaningful relationships with scholars and working professionals, partnering academic institutions, NGOs, and funders, such as the U.S. Embassy in Morocco and Fulbright. Her capacity-building efforts towards human rights, gender equality, the eradication of violence, discrimination and harmful practices towards migrants, racial, ethnic and religious minorities through the HMCR Program have unveiled Lauren’s profound commitment to fostering critical dialogue and engagement amongst a vast array of stakeholders in order to disseminate research findings which propose solutions, recommendations and best practices for advocacy and steps forward, and, perhaps whatsmore, to ensuring the rights guarantees of all and to dismantling marginalizing structures which ignite their abuses.
