What are the top 5 common resume mistakes to avoid?
Most savvy job seekers proofread and have their resumes reviewed before circulating them, so these mistakes are less common. What I see far too often are cover emails/letters with typos, poor writing, or other job title/company names they failed to update. People should be just as thoughtful and meticulous about these messages, because they're a much more realistic reflection of your everyday writing style and attention to detail (or lack thereof). Every exchange you have with a company sends a message about your professional brand and the kind of employee you'd be. Investing time and attention at this stage matters. With so many carelessly written mass applications, your thoughtful, smart messaging will separate you from the pack!

What are the key elements of a clear and concise job description?
This is your chance to think beyond basic benefits and inspire candidates with your Employee Value Proposition! Paint an inspiring (but realistic) picture of what you have to offer. Be honest and authentic (don't overpromise). For example, let's say you're a startup and can’t yet offer retirement benefits; instead, highlight an impact benefit like, “we donate a percentage of profits to address financial literacy” or a development benefit like, “we encourage a growth mindset by offering employees an allowance to build new skills like public speaking.” If you’re not sure what employees value most, ask! Newbies have a fresh perspective on what inspired them to join your company and may highlight things you take for granted.
