Why is #UAS endurance so valuable? Every 👏 Cycle 👏 Costs 👏 Getting your #UAV prepped and airborne, and then recovering/refueling/relaunching, costs a lot of personnel effort and deck operation space. Competitor UAS require 3-4x the deck cycles of ScanEagle or Integrator. That’s a lot of unnecessary cost. #EnduranceMatters

🔹Announcement: CG-ENG Policy Letter 01-24: Guidance Regarding Devices that Alter Maneuvering Characteristics of Ships🔹 April 22, 2024 On 10 April 2024, the U.S. Coast Guard Office of Design and Engineering Standards (CG-ENG) published Policy Letter 01-24, Guidance Regarding Devices that Alter Maneuvering Characteristics of Ships to Ensure Safe Operation in Waters of the United States. EPLs and SHaPoLis are just two examples of devices and programs employed on ships to comply with the Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index as required in MARPOL Annex VI. These devices pose little risk on the open ocean but have the potential to create safety and navigation risks when operating in restricted waters, including harbors and rivers. Several Coast Guard Sectors across the nation have issued Marine Safety Information Bulletins regarding the use of power-limiting devices in restricted waters. Additionally, harbor pilots have expressed concerns that ship operators are not fully disclosing the properties of the EPLs and SHaPoLis. This Policy Letter provides further guidance and clarification on the intended use of the devices, when they may need to be disengaged, and provides an assessment framework to facilitate safe navigation in restricted U.S. waterways. So much goodwill and political capital was squandered on fools who thought they could counter shit regulation with their feelings and no data. 250 grams, #RID, and geofencing were all brought to you by the CCP. The demise of Sec. 336 was bungling by AMA and lobbied for repeal by VC-funded companies like Aloft (formerly Kittyhawk). Then there is the Commercial Drone Alliance. CDA basically pulled an Anwar Al-Aulaqi style drone strike on the domestic drone industry for profit. AUVSI poked you at every turn and in every way they could. AMA screwed the hobbyist globally for a crack at a million paid members. All of it was done ex parte to access a public trust resource on the public's dime. The #drone "advocacy" clown show has cost the West in both #nationalsecurity #economicsecurity as #IED are now dynamic.

The USDA Forest Service has successfully launched this year's Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System (MAFFS) training at Channel Islands Air National Guard Station, demonstrating the robust partnership between various agencies including the United States Department of Defense, California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), and the Bureau of Land Management. This year's training is particularly special as it coincides with the 100-year centennial celebration of the host unit, the 146 Airlift Wing, popularly known as the “Hollywood Guard.” This annual event brings together aircrews from the U.S. Air Force Reserve’s 302nd Airlift Wing in Colorado Springs, and California's 146th Airlift Wing. These teams, integral to the MAFFS program, are vital for providing a critical "surge" capability in aerial firefighting when commercial airtankers are unavailable. Col. DeAnna Franks, operations group commander for the 302nd Airlift Wing and this year’s Air Expeditionary Group Commander, emphasized the importance of the training to prepare crews for the fire season. Kim Christensen, deputy assistant director operations for the U.S. Forest Service, highlighted the enduring success of MAFFS, attributing it to the dedication and professionalism of all involved.
