Additional Natural Gas Loss in Value Encapsulate Current Environment 4/26/24 - Energy Update Looks like natural gas has a false bottom in the safe. This drop in value is telling when paired with the fact the May contract expires today. Bulls are forced to liquidate positions prior to expiration exposing the wizard behind the curtain. Is there a yellow brick road ahead or, instead, a nasty tornado on the horizon? Bollinger Band The Bollinger band values have begun to open, providing support at $1.59 and resistance at $1.93. Current trading at $1.58 is testing the bottom band. Directional Band We are removing our horizontal directional band as containment has been breached. While we expect to see an upward directional band develop due to the widening of the Bollinger Bands coupled with the current value, we’ll have to wait and see if it comes to fruition before doing so. Resistance (Support) The current resistance value is $1.76. The value is placing upward pressure on prices. Tests We are currently in a bottom band test cycle with two unconfirmed attempts taking place in the prior two consecutive trading days. This decline is most likely due to the May contract expiring forcing a mass exodus of positions. If a test is confirmed, the upward reaction could be material as the Bollinger Bands have begun to open. Fundamentals Storage levels and production continue to be EXTREMELY healthy. The culmination of fundamentals is continuing to place neutral/downward pressure on prices. What’s Next? It seems safe to expect a short-term rebound in value. The real question is if prices are going to pop back up to the longstanding comfort level of $1.80 or if this is the true floor that value is going to bounce off. Fundamentals still have a strong chokehold, but this is a crucial time to be diligent… a tornado may be over the hill Dorothy (and Toto of course). Below are the weekly numbers for review:   The EIA weekly storage release reported an injection of 92 bcf compared to the expectation of an injection of 80. The injection was larger than the five-year average injection of 72.   Today prices have decreased, currently trading at $1.58, down $0.06 on the day.   Week-on-week prices have decreased from $1.75 for a -$0.17 net impact.   Month-on-month prices have decreased from $1.79 for a -$0.21 net impact.   We can partner with you to make informed, educated decisions to protect your energy procurement. Can the following be carried out retrospectively? Modelling verification Certain barrier elements may have to be verified by suitable modelling or type testing at the design stage, since operational testing may not be practical or achievable. Examples of such testing include wave load impact on conductors, slam closure rates for SSSVs and pressure rating of installed casings, where it is undesirable to pressure-test against a cemented shoe. In such cases, periodic inspection of the physical condition to check for evidence of degradation and modelling of the effect of the degradation may be considered.

The week ended June 7 saw RD margins press lower on fresh feedstock strength, while softer RIN and LCFS markets provided additional headwinds. The BOHO spread retreated sharply from the highest level in five months as the front-month CBOT soybean oil contract shed 4% week-over-week, while Nymex ULSD was largely unchanged. D4 RINs fell 2% over the course of the week despite more material losses in the BOHO spread, failing to respond to stronger feedstock prices outside of soybean oil. Oil prices touched $73 a barrel today and closed the week at $74 with Brent at only $76. Remember the Saudi’s want $80 plus. Unemployment ticked up to 4.3 percent today triggering worries about recession and the U.S. economy. Oil prices declined along with the 10 year yield, treasuries more broadly, and a msssive sell off in equities across the stock market. The move in oil prices is being exacerbated by rate moves in Treasuries and swings within the market. A poorer than expected jobs report topped an already volatile week with the Fed meeting on Wednesday and Powell holding interest rates steady but signaling a cut in September. Meanwhile Iran backed Hezbollah in Lebanon attacked Israel this week killing children in the Golan Heights. And Israel knocked out the leader of Hamas in Tehran, the capital of Iran. The Houthis in Yemen, also backed by Iran, continue to attack ships in the Red Sea. Chevron gets major props from PetroNerds by putting their money where their mouth is and moving their headquarters from California to Texas. 💪 Nice work Mike Wirth! The lesser known fact- Coal is an excellent feedstock for a wide range of carbon based and other valuable materials. The low thermal efficiency of coal power plants makes it an archaic source of energy. EPA and federal policies are encouraging the alternate use of coal. Today I want to share a few things I learned at our Catalyst and Operating Training Seminar for Syngas Plants (a month-ish ago). 💡 1) Some companies with multiple sites actually keep one spare secondary reformer or ATR dome in inventory (for the fleet) in the event that they unexpectedly need to replace their dome during a turnaround. Lead times for these items can be long and you can't really inspect them on the run. 👍 2) SMR / primary reformer tubes last on average 16-18 years but some reformers are getting 25 years plus. This is one of the reasons you may hear a lot about the importance of monitoring tube wall temperatures because operating above design makes a huge impact (negatively) on tube life. 📉 Does your company keep a dome in inventory? 🙋‍♀️ Do these lifetimes match up with what you're seeing for tube life (it is probably a very wide range)? 🙋‍♀️ #neverstoplearning #clariant #syngas #reforming #ammonia #methanol #hydrogen

CCTV footage from a 2007 anhydrous ammonia gas release in Seward, Illinois, serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by chemical handling. The accidental release, caused by a ruptured hose during a transfer of the product between a storage tank and a tanker vehicle, resulted in a plume of up to 18,000 kilograms of the gas. Liquid anhydrous ammonia expands rapidly when released into the atmosphere from its pressurized container. The week ended June 28 saw RD margins retreat on continued feedstock strength and modest RIN losses. Feedstock demand has been voracious in recent weeks. Phillips 66 announced the full conversion of its Rodeo facility at 50,000 Bbl/d last week. The BOHO spread resumed its decline, shedding nearly 5% following the prior week’s pause. RIN prices fell less than one percent on the week taking directional cues from the BOHO spread yet maintained support relative to declines in the BOHO spread. Woodside's Bold Step Towards a Low-Carbon Future Woodside is making strides with a new $2.35 billion ammonia plant in Texas, part of a larger $5 billion U.S. investment. This facility aims to cut emissions to one-third of typical levels, producing 1.1 million tonnes annually using hydrogen from gas and nitrogen from Linde. The plant will buy hydrogen made from gas and nitrogen from a nearby Linde plant and combine the two elements to make ammonia. CEO Meg O'Neill highlights rapidly growing demand for low-carbon ammonia in power, marine, and industrial uses. Sales start in 2025, with lower-carbon products available from 2026, leveraging ExxonMobil's emission storage. Alongside their $900 million Driftwood LNG acquisition, Woodside is leading in sustainable energy solutions.
