What do you do if your healthcare organization is resistant to change?
I appreciate this perspective and feel like it is frequently under appreciated as we continuously strive for innovation and evolution to workflows and devices that professionals have trained and learned through experience and repetition. It is critical we are balancing both adaption and resistance as we approach innovation.

How can you organize your tasks for optimal productivity?
Outside of the obvious positive areas of communication and the benefits of collaboration when planning and executing product development, is the need to create an environment where conflict is encouraged. This approach may be counter intuitive to some, but the benefit of fostering a culture around harnessed conflict allows colleagues and peers to feel comfortable in raising red flags of concern, disagreeing with proposed activities, or simply providing alternative thoughts or ideas to the general consensus. This allows the product development process to naturally evolve and refine with consistent new information and diverse perspectives, all critical to the success of the team and product.

How can you design user studies that are both rigorous and adaptable?
The key word in the world of user research and usability is iterative. A single snapshot of the prototype or product is just that, singular. Creating a thorough plan to evaluate different targeted variables of is critical; including diverse participant samples, refined research methods including integrated feedback, or post market surveillance. Understanding and integrating research along the entirety of the product lifecycle allows for a holistic representation and minimized gaps in impact.

What are the best ways to keep your team on task and meet deadlines remotely?
Establishing leadership with a propensity to delegate naturally and instill autonomy into your team requires a distinct balance of both trust and direction. Simply off loading responsibility or providing generic assignment, even highly competent and capable teams may miss the mark of expectations due to not being provided clear expectations for process and/or outcome. Not understanding the context of final landing makes it equally frustrating to a team who is micromanaged to the point of limited impact or opportunity. Make sure to provide not only the space for execution, but also a high enough fidelity of final expectations to give the team the opportunity to succeed.
