Responsible for guiding unit tasked with auditing the compliance within the Metropolitan Police Department. Conduct scheduled and ad hoc field inspections for compliance with established directives. Analyze current practices and prepare reports with recommendations to the Chief of Police. Present findings of reviews to Command Officials of the Department. Monitor the Outside Employment Program for the Department. Handle special projects, such as the Body Worn Camera initiative. Conduct special investigations upon request from Chief of Police. Provide ethics reviews for specific issues. Process and analyze all DC Code 12-309 civil claims against the Agency. Act as liaison with DC ORM for OSHA inspections. Director of the forensic collection and processing of all crime scenes for the agency. Coordinated the efforts of over 90 crime scene personnel. Facilitated the final construction and move of the Division to the new forensics laboratory. Managed and negotiated the transition of responsibility for crime scene processing to the Department of Forensic Sciences, while continued scene processing by MPD members. Responsible for the management and leadership of element tasked with securing, cataloguing and disposing of property/evidence seized by the MPD. Directing workflow of over 30 members at 5 separate work sites to include warehouse operations, court property office, impoundment lot, crane services and drug laboratory. Enhancing customer service, productivity and efficiency. Tasked with reorganizing the unit and implementing strategies to reduce the amount of stored property while maintaining the integrity of all evidentiary material. Continued liaison with the U.S. Attorney’s Office and Corporation Counsel regarding court evidentiary procedures. Currently, undertaking MPD’s lead on the construction oversight of a new state-of-the-art Evidence Control Facility; to include ergonomic and process design, storage methodology, performance matrices and expectations, relocation preparation and final move.
