The Washington State University-Health Sciences Spokane early-stage life science business incubator, sp3nw, will develop a Flexible Infrastructure for Resilient Entrepreneurship (FIRE), consisting of support programs to spur regional economic development in Eastern Washington and North Idaho. Centered in Spokane and Pullman, Washington, FIRE has created an External Advisory Board (EAB), and will identify, test, establish and disseminate best practices for resilient entrepreneurship. The Washington State University-Health Sciences Spokane early-stage life science business incubator, sp3nw, will develop a Flexible Infrastructure for Resilient Entrepreneurship (FIRE), consisting of support programs to spur regional economic development in Eastern Washington and North Idaho. Centered in Spokane and Pullman, Washington, FIRE has created an External Advisory Board (EAB), and will identify, test, establish and disseminate best practices for resilient entrepreneurship. Our goal is to enhance translation of nascent technologies into products to improve people’s lives.
The FIRE elements include:
- a Rural Angel Investment Network (RAIN) to train and encourage local investors, developing unique investment capital models to meet financial needs of entrepreneurs
– the Executive Advisors and Review Team Honorarium (EARTH) project will provide a core support structure for innovators in the region to access the complementary expertise needed to shape and forward early-stage ventures.
– the Workforce Innovation Network Development (WIND) framework to enable employees and job- seekers to acquire portable, high-value skills and gain confidence through industry career transition and development opportunities and industries to access a wider range of local candidates.
– The Internship Consultants for Entrepreneurs (ICE) program helps entrepreneurs and startups efficiently and effectively complete basic business tasks while educating the next generation of entrepreneurs.Other creators -
Career Connect WA WSU/PLTW Bioscience Career Launch

WSU Health Sciences-Spokane (WSU-Spokane) partners with Project Lead The Way (PLTW) creating an endorsed career launch experience for Washington state high school students who are engaged in PLTW’s Biomedical Science program. The career launch experience will include dual credit, an industry-recognized credential (the Biotechnician Assistant Credential and Exam [BACE], and entry-level workforce opportunities.
