I am a Board member of the Waterfront Alliance (representing over 1000 groups with a stake in the NY/NJ waterfront). The NY/NJ region experienced unprecedented environmental and sustainability challenges in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, and many more challenges lie ahead. As the only scientist on the board and as co-chair of the policy committee, I've helped focus the organization on resiliency in the face of extreme events and the implications for waterfront development and design. Our new campaign, rise2resilience.org, encompasses these topics and centers environmental/climate justice and equity. I am currently the Treasurer and a member of the Executive Committee (2020-ongoing).
