“James S. Frier served as the Dean of Students for three years at my alma mater, Boston Prep. During his time there he made huge changes to the schools behavioral system. Mr. Frier came into Boston Prep with over 90 students being sent to his office a day to only 3-5. He created Deans Counsel in hope to decrease the number of students that were sent out of class and into his office. This one change became the resolution to an issue that former deans spent endless time trying to solve. Mr. Frier not only helped the school behavioral wise but he went above and beyond to connect to each and everyone of his students. Despite given a tough position to be the Dean of Students, students such as myself seen Mr. Frier as an intelligent, humble, reliant, kind, and respectful leader. He will always and forever be a huge pillar to the success of Boston Prep, and because of his great character I do not have a doubt in my mind that he will do the same if not better at his current institution. ”

ESL Program Creation

In response to critical remarks from DESE and a complaint with the Office of Civil Rights, I was tasked with designing and implementing a fully compliant ESL program. I identified 400 students that should have been screened, screened them via the WIDA Online Screener, and identified 100 English Language Learners (10%). I hired a certified ESL Teacher, acquired a curriculum, saw to it that all teachers received the Sheltered English Immersion endorsement, and implemented a robust…
