“Anyone who knows Jon understands his power to stop the storm when it rains and diffuse tense situations. Like Ganesha, he is “the remover of obstacles”. His factual, objective outlook guides his open-mindedness while hearing all perspectives before determining a suitable path. Jon also knows there’s no one-size-fits-all answer in UX strategy, and he leans on empathy and strategic thinking to address needs specific to each case. The three-day Fulfillment workshop Jon spearheaded in 2021 is a notable example of when I’ve been able to observe these characteristics firsthand. From top to bottom funnel, he brought multiple teams together, promoting cooperation within groups as we identified pain points and established a practical north star. Jon also demonstrated his tenacity to mediate conflict and blockers that arose on the Post-Purchase vertical during the interim of not having a direct manager. He helped delegate tasks so we could improve internal processes, and challenged us to think about things differently. Jon is pleasantly mellow, diplomatic, and makes people feel at ease while elegantly fighting for the best solutions. I’m thankful to have known Jon at Lowe’s and I know he’ll continue to share his wisdom to others not only for workplace circumstances, but for life.”

Here's how you can address team member resistance to usability testing as a project manager.
When you run usability tests, you save time and money by avoiding costly development mistakes. For example, if you find out users struggle to navigate a specific feature, you can fix this before launch. It’s significantly cheaper to make changes before launch than after a product has already been released. Usability testing helps find and fix these problems early in development, saving resources and time. By engaging in usability testing at the beginning, businesses can reduce the chance of having to make any changes or redesigns later on. Additionally, usability testing delivers significant cost savings by resolving potential issues before going to market, preventing costly failures and streamlining the design process.

Here's how you can make the decision to retire or continue working as a mobile designer.
To ask it as a question of "Should I continue mobile design?" frames the question in a limited way. My questions to myself would start with: - Why did I start this career? Am I bored with mobile or bored/unhappy with being a professional designer overall? (it's not for everyone) - Are there culture problems or a distinct lack of other design opportunities where I work that are exacerbating the issue? At heart, I believe designers are curious individuals who like to solve problems for other people. If that's true for you then please know that naturally and over your career the challenges, platforms, UIs and all the rest will change. Keep being curious and doors WILL open.
