What do you do if your Agile team is struggling to build strong relationships in a remote work setting?
Informal get togethers can add a new dimension to the team's cohesiveness. Rather than focusing just on work ceremonies, perhaps set up a "happy hour," or fun event. As an example, PowerPoint Karaoke gets people out of their shells and laughing together, which creates good downstream connections. Adding a ritual of giving an appreciation, from team members to each other, during standups or progress reviews, can also help to raise team focus and positivity.

What metrics and indicators should you use to detect agile anti-patterns?
The are many counter-indications for the use of velocity that are often ignored, including: if team is not cross-functional internally the concept of team velocity is suspect at best, if sprint mechanics are loose (planning completion before sprint start, acceptance process completed before sprint end etc,) the values are not reliable, and to the extent that any factors outside the team are involved in work completion, velocity becomes an environment measure, not a team measure. This is not a central metric in my view, as the conditions for validity are rarely fully met.

Automated testing helps ensure quality software not only in the SaaS realm but also in more conservative parts of the software industry. It’s a best practice that has been used for decades but still, many questions remain. What do the best tests look like? How is automation added to legacy code? How do you keep your tests up to date while remaining agile and include system and stress testing? How does the gradual accretion of tests over time impact productivity and performance? When is manual QA still appropriate? What is the difference and relation of test driven development as opposed to writing tests after the software has been written?
Join our 2 panels of testing experts as they discuss how they use automated testing in their development process and share with you their perspective on what works or doesn’t to maximize your development team.
