I often hear course owners, GMs and Head Pros tell me that they don’t have a pace of play problem. But when I ask them whether they can tell me what percentage of their players are actually finishing on pace, they have no idea. Quicker morning rounds mask slower rounds throughout the rest of the day, distorting the average round time and hiding the fact that many golfers are finishing well over pace. Think of it like the average temperature over the course of the day - cold mornings cancel out the hot afternoon heat, for what appears to be a comfortable average. The bottom line? If you want to properly understand your course’s pace and flow of play, you need to have data. You can't improve what you don't measure. Install technology that allows you to collect data for key metrics Use this data to set benchmarks and goals Track and optimize against these, to drive continuous improvement Isn’t it time you had a better understanding of what is really happening at your course?

Although it is exciting to earn awards through the various organizations, we need to remember that "it's not about the stars & diamonds!" A champion who never turned professional. A man of many skills and talents. Among his achievements were winning the Grand Slam of golf, building Augusta National, and creating The Masters golf tournament. His quote is about strategy. It is about constantly searching for ways to save strokes throughout a round. The same can hold true in business. To grow in an organization, it is important to search for and find economies. Ways that you can save money, steps or time. When you are looking for ways to help your organization, you are saving “strokes.” Golf is about the lowest score. Business is about service, value, and economy. To grow your income/visibility, look to be that person who thinks like the owner. The person always looking for ways to spend $2.00, instead of $3.00. ADR Up In April The average April U.S. hotel daily rate increased slightly year over year, as did revenue per available room and occupancy rate, according to hotel analytics firm STR. It was the first such year-over-year monthly increase in occupancy in at least a year. U.S. ADR in April increased 0.8 percent year over year to $157.31, while RevPAR jumped 2 percent to $102.51, according to STR. U.S. occupancy increased 1.2 percent year over year to 65.2 percent, the first such increase since STR resumed providing year-over-year comparisons in April 2023.  STR's top 25 markets "showed higher occupancy and ADR than all other markets," according to the company. STR in other statements has noted what it called a "bifurcated" U.S. hotel market, with lower hotel tiers hurt by decreased demand from budget-minded travelers wary of inflation and economic conditions, with upper tiers boosted by seemingly strengthening business and group travel. In fact, according to the company, STR's top 25 markets during the week of May 5-11 posted their highest aggregate weekday occupancy—a metric correlated with business travel demand—since November 2019. "At the same time, we can't dismiss the travel headwinds that have taken the form of inflation, high interest rates, and rising debt," according to STR. New York City posted the highest April figures among STR's top 25 markets in all three performance metrics: occupancy (84.4 percent, up 2.8 percent year over year), ADR ($298.98, up 2.6 percent) and RevPAR ($252.25, up 5.5 percent). Detroit posted the lowest April occupancy among STR's top 25 markets at 58.9 percent, followed by Minneapolis at 59.3 percent.
