About
My work and research focus on the intersection of water, peace, and inclusiveness. My background is in post-conflict peacebuilding, including in East and West Africa, South Asia, and the MENA region. Both my Masters’ degrees bridged peacebuilding with water, analyzing how the water sector can contribute to conflict drivers or be an entry point for peacebuilding policies or programs on local, national, and international levels. I have recent experience in national water policy and in transboundary water cooperation. My current work is with USIP in project design, monitoring, evaluation, learning, and research (DMLER) with a focus on the MENA region, climate and environment, and Track 1.5 and 2 dialogue.

Activities and Societies: Research on inclusive participation and stakeholder analysis in water management processes can contribute toward peacebuilding initiatives in South Sudan. Assistance in UNU project on emotions in international law; capacity building in drought- and flood-prone northern Ghana; Nile geo-politics; and human rights abuses in Sudan, among indigenous communities, and other nations.
This unique Master's program requires interdisciplinary competency in development, sustainability, and peacebuilding. My focus was on how inclusive and sustainable practices in water management can contribute to post conflict peacebuilding.

The article analyses what can be done in Syria with its extreme levels of physical and social destruction. I consider in it how the international community can begin to assist, given the overwhelming need and how peacebuilding and development can begin under these circumstances.

Getting Coherence and Coordination Right: Principles for the Peacebuilding Policy Community
The African Centre for Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD)
This Policy & Practice Brief (PPB) is based on the outcomes of a seminar hosted by the African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD) with the theme ‘Towards a more coherent peacebuilding policy community’ in Johannesburg, South Africa on 19 and 20 February 2014. It aims to examine whether greater coherence and coordination is necessarily the answer to ensure the achievement of more effective and sustainable peacebuilding initiatives. Firstly, the brief seeks to establish a common understanding of the term ‘coherence’ which is specific to peacebuilding dynamics by unpacking its meaning within peacebuilding experiences. Secondly, it will examine the various challenges hampering achievement of coherence and coordination. Finally, the PPB provides some recommended principles that should characterise peacebuilding interventions as a way to support local and international actors in developing coherent, effective and sustainable peacebuilding efforts.

Assessing the Relationship between Inclusiveness and Peacebuilding: Case Study of the Water Sector in South Sudan
United Nations University: Institute of Sustainability and Peace
South Sudan faces many challenges relating to marginalisation and conflict. This research seeks to address these challenges by understanding ways forward in fostering inclusiveness and facilitating peacebuilding. “Inclusiveness” is currently in socio-political vogue, but despite the red carpet attention in mandates and visions, discussions on quality and authenticity are being swept under the carpet. This research unpacks the assumptions, utilising a rubric for analysing inclusiveness on local and national levels. This sets the stage for practitioners and academics to understand more deeply the practical and conceptual basis for how to foster and/or strengthen inclusiveness for the benefit of peacebuilding. Analysis of the relationship between inclusion and peacebuilding is explored as it manifests in programmes and policies relating to the water sector of South Sudan as an empirical case study.
