    An automated and efficient video search system comprising an ingestion engine and a precision video search engine is presented. The ingestion engine is a suite of software tools that converts standardized and non-standardized, motion picture delivery documents into rich metadata. The precision video search engine produces highly relevant search engine results that take the user directly to the point-of-relevance within the video.

    The ingestion and the precision video search engines provide an efficient mechanism for searching videos by harnessing the powers of several sources including" post-production tools, time-coded techniques, deliverable documents, speaker information, onscreen graphics, scene and music descriptions. Additionally, underlying rights with a video including music, stock footage, photographs, motion graphics, and any other information contained in time-coded documents is used. Normally such information are expensive and time-consuming to make, and because they are human-made, need to be checked for errors. However, such information is already available and paid for by producers as part of their standard, legal, delivery requirements for distributors.

    The ingestion engine mines and extracts this invaluable metadata and converts it into formats that are crawlable and indexable by search engine web crawlers (spiders). This is arguably the most powerful metadata for video search on the internet, which by its very nature will deliver extremely high relevance to many searches related to many topics covered by the film (and hence contained in the documents.) The precision video search engine then connects this metadata to the video itself, allowing users to find videos through normal, organic internet search results, which will take the user directly to the point-of-relevance within the video itself, as opposed to having to watch it from the beginning.
