You don't have to be perfect (at least all the time) As a Fractional CIO, I'm always working on new connections to find the businesses that are struggling with IT. Once we connect and converse, we immediately know if and how we can help each other. With all the information available on crafting emails, LinkedIn connect messages, phone calls, frequency of postings, etc, etc, etc, it is easy to get stuck in a hamster wheel trying to decide what is best to do next. We lay awake in bed with great ideas on what the invite email should look like, but then we fear sending it out because it is too creative or too much of "how I think". So we read more articles with more ideas than just trying different ideas. Connect messages, emails, and postings don't need to be perfect. They need to be good but not perfect. You will grow your business much faster if you focus on executing well, rather than procrastinating to be perfect. In my field (IT), you must be perfect with the technology. If you are creating a report for a client, you need to understand the requirements, know the data, and ensure that all the calculations are correct. A sloppy report will lead to bad information, which can cause bad and costly company decisions. Exercise for today: Find that task that you keep putting off and just do it. Do your best work and just get it done. Don't try to be perfect.

In the past several weeks, the Food & Beverage sector in southeastern Wisconsin has exploded with announcements of new investment into our region. Six companies have announced plans for new facilities or expansions. Palermo's Pizza announced they will build a 200,000 square foot production facility in West Milwaukee. Milwaukee Pretzel Company will expand their facility by 22,000 square feet on Milwaukee's northwest side. Kikkoman Foods, Inc. announced a new facility in Jefferson for 250,000 square feet. Nestlé Purina North America announced a 195 million dollar expansion of their Jefferson facility...pet food, but still F&B! Pleasant Prairie based Olds Products Co, a manufacturer of mustards and vinegars purchased 43 acres in Oconomowoc, no specific plans yet. Winnesota Multi-Temp Delivery and Storage is building a 100,000 square foot freezer facility in Oconomowoc. These are exciting times in our area!
