The project will consist of the construction of a brine management solution to transmit brine from Site 12 and the Bullard Water Campus to the existing 90-inch PCCP pipeline serving the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station line near the Goodyear Water Resources Campus. The project will generally consist of:
Installation of up to 40,000 linear feet of brine pipeline. The actual amount of pipeline to be installed is dependent on the alignment study and other conceptual design activities currently in progress. The diameter and material of the pipeline(s) will be finalized during the detailed design process but is currently assumed to be 12-inch fusible High Density Polyethylene (HDPE). Connection of the brine pipeline(s) to the existing facilities at the Bullard Water Campus and at Site 12.c. Connection of the brine pipeline to the existing connection point to the existing connection point to the PVNGS line and any modifications required to the existing connection point. Possible establishment of a second connection to the PVNGS line depending on the results of the alignment study and conceptual design activities. Construction of up to two (2) booster pump stations to convey the brine if the design process determines that a gravity solution is not feasible. Construction of chemical dosing station(s). Provide provisions for a future connection from the new brine pipeline(s) to the facilities of a private industrial user to accommodate possible future brine flows. Restoration and replacement of street pavement and other lands as affected by the construction activities.

The Ina Rd. / I-10 Traffic Interchange CMAR project was constructed by Sundt/Kiewit, A Joint Venture. It provides an above grade crossing for Ina Rd. over the Union Pacific Rail Road and I-10. this CMAR project was well received by the community to provide better access to and from the freeway which historically suffered with traffic backing up on the access ramps when trains were passing. The bridge structures were safely constructed over the UPRR tracks while maintaining track operations.

The construction manager at risk project included reconstruction of the interchange at Ina Road as a precast concrete bridge overpass to I-10. It also included several street improvements, channel construction, drainage, retaining walls, signals, lighting, and utility relocation.

The joint venture team began work in January 2017 to elevate the Ina Road interchange, widen I-10 and Ina Road, and replace the existing Santa Cruz River Bridge. The improved infrastructure helps reduce delays and increase safety for the nearly 25,000 drivers who use the interchange every day.

Of the various improvements made, the most notable is the bridge, which takes traffic over the Union Pacific Railroad tracks and reduce delays on a heavily used four-lane road. Railroad crossings were previously at street level, causing frequent backups for daily drivers. Now drivers have safer, faster access to and from the interstate.

The award was presented recently during AGC’s annual banquet held at the Heard Museum in Phoenix. The Build Arizona awards celebrate the construction achievements of Arizona AGC contractors recognizing excellent projects, partnerships and individuals that make the project successful.

Ina Rd Traffic Interchange CMAR received the award in the category of "Roadway Over $25M". This project demonstrated excellence in partnering by creating a team partnering charter, establishing goals and measuring their outcome, operating with an issue resolution and decision making hierarchy while upholding values surrounding teamwork with all stakeholders.
