The mission of Family Compass is to build healthy families and a strong North Texas community by preventing child abuse and neglect. This is accomplished through our two home mentoring programs and our community education program for families that have elevated risk for child abuse and reside in the poorest communities throughout Dallas and Collin County.

    The DIA will address key challenges faced by Dallas, and cities around the world, around aging infrastructure, strained natural and fiscal resources, and increased density in the urban core, while providing the technology and connectivity needed to power the future for all Dallasites. The DIA operates from the definition that a smart city is one where technological and social infrastructures accelerate sustainable economic development, conserves resources and improves the quality of life for its citizens. The DIA Data Committee has an ongoing initiative to develop an open-source software platform that will aggregate data and provide opportunities for citizens, entrepreneurs, and organizations to build smart city applications on top of the platform.

    I was the Flash architect and lead developer for ClubBK.com, Burger King’s site for kids. I designed the site’s Flash architecture and wrote most of its core functionality. I wrote a custom port of the PureMVC ActionScript framework, a module system, the customizable avatar system (featuring different body types, facial features, and customizable clothing), the multiplayer functionality (including chat and teleporting), the PDA module, and other functionality.
