Upgrading from a cheaper Optoma projector, this reviewer is blown away by the Sony's picture quality. They compare the difference to stepping up from an LED TV to an OLED – a significant leap in terms of realism. Sony's technology delivers true blacks, unlike the Optoma's washed-out dark tones, and the HDR (High Dynamic Range) makes colors pop with stunning vibrancy. Beyond the core picture quality, the Sony projector boasts several user-friendly features. The remote control allows for electronic adjustments to focus, zoom, and horizontal/vertical alignment – a huge plus compared to the hassle of manual adjustments, especially for ceiling-mounted projectors. You can even zoom in on widescreen movies to fill your entire screen with the remote, and the picture controls are intuitive and easy to use. The icing on the cake? This projector runs incredibly quiet, even when powering down. However, there's one caveat for 3D movie fans. Unlike most projectors that use DLP glasses, this Sony requires Bluetooth 3D glasses. Want a shortcut/hack for accelerating die-cut prototypes? Think differently! I needed some small custom LED diffusers for an electronics project. My go-to quick-turn die cut vendor would typically quote a 5 day turnaround on these parts. And many times that's okay. I'll deal with a 5-day lead time, if the timing is not critical. This time, though, I couldn't wait. So, I picked up a Cricut Air from Target and some diffusion film from Michael's and later that day I was making custom parts on my desk. My first design was flawed and I quickly moved on to create several other variations. Developing a 'bias towards action' mindset in design and development and finding shortcuts will help you iterate more quickly. And, yes I'm aware that I could have cut these out with an Xacto knife, But I need a dozens of them all identical for my prototype. #prototyping #hacknsmash

I've been in the AV industry for over 20 years and have seen a lot of change. Those changes are part of what has kept me interested in this industry for so long. AV is always changing. Which is great, it keeps things fresh. One of our biggest changes has been happening over the past few years and that's Artificial Intelligence. AI is bringing huge changes to the quality of life we experience in our ever chaning AV world. Whether is the way a microphone selectively picks up and rejects sound in a room to the way a camera tracks the presenter or the participants at a conference room table. AI is in a lot of what we already do and it's definately having a positive impact on the AV systems that we are selling and installing. There is one area though that AI doesn't seem as prevenlent in and that's the consumer TV. The industry to seems to dable in bringing AI features into the consumer world but it seems to me that they are missing mark. What if instead of looking to add features to make a broadcast look or feel a certain way, we add features that allow those who are visually impared be able to experience a program the way those of who aren't visually impared are able to. For instance, look at sports. Back in the late 90's Fox introduced Foxtrac for their NHL broadcasts. This feature was put in place to help the fans be able to track the puck better during a televised hockey game. Unforunately this was not something the fans wanted at that time. It was quickly discarded and they went back to their regular broadcast without the glowing puck. While I understand why the average fan might not like this particular feature, someone with less than average vision may find this helpful to them during the broadcast. So, why not with the use of AI make this a feature you could turn on and off on your TV? Afterall, not everyone can be a the game which is the point of having it broadcast in the first place .....ok, commercials may actually be the reason why they broadcast games but why not add more viewers. We visited a client, on the island of Palm Beach, to review some operational disconnects with the home's Master Bedroom AV System. We discovered some unexpected, new, and heretofore never before witnessed behavior from the motorized TV lift assembly. It appeared to be haunted. We also witnessed some erratic behavior with the Universal Remote Control Smart Remote. The Favorite Channel selection buttons appeared to be haunted as well. The odd part is this system had been functioning properly for months and without incident. You may rightfully ask, what happened? This is still somewhat of a mystery. My personal belief is the system was impacted by our typical Florida West Season weather patterns...thunderstorms, power outages, and the like. The property was also equipped with a backup generator. These devils do provide for power backup should any FPL delivery issues arise. They often do this time of year...too often! Sadly, it has been our experience that these devils deliver strong power surges whenever they come online. Power surges are not anyone's friend and most especially sensitive electronics. We performed what is considered normal troubleshooting procedures, which included rebooting the Denon AVR's microprocessor, checking the communication pathways for the URC IR-Controlled devices, and finally we reviewed the URC Remote's programming. We, again, discovered some unusual and unexpected commands within the URC remote's program. Two very simple edits resolved the remaining system issues and at the end of the day, the MBR System is back on solid ground and functioning as programmed and as intended. C'est formidable!
