PAYING 300% MORE FOR THEIR WORKERS COMP INSURANCE

    Problems
This large food distribution company suffered back injuries, strains and repetitive injuries. All these injuries caused their WorkComp premium to skyrocket to $2.2M premiums per year, more than 300% what they could have been paying.

    Steps to mitigate problems
We were referred in to analyze the causes and design a program to dramatically improve their results.

Our contact was the CFO. He agreed to our proprietary risk assessment.

    Risk Assessment Outcome

 Added triage service which eliminated over 50% of the injuries through their online service.
 Installed an employee receptive “Recovery @ Work Program.” Injured workers could
immediately “recover” at work. This reduces insurance company lost wage payments, a major cause of spikes in premiums.
 Led and monitored supervisor training
 Joined employer’s safety committee, provided agendas, and moderated different meetings
 Conducted safety surveys, receiving tremendous results from employees at various job positions
    Results
 Injury costs plummeted in two years from 2.63% of payroll down to 1.08% of payroll.
     Reduced experience modification factor
 This company took back control of their Worker’s Comp program allowing alternative financing for their insurance program
 Premiums plunged to $685,000 per year from $2.2M
     Initiated annual risk assessments
 CFO earned title of “Super Hero”
in two years. Their experience mod dropped and we were able to put them in a high deductible program. Their premium went from $2.2M per year to $685,000 per year. The CFO looked like a hero and we have been doing these risk assessments ever since.

  • Workers' Compensation

Successfully transitioned manufacturing company from traditional guaranteed cost workers' comp program to high deductible program, saving significant premium. Completed workers' comp risk assessment and assisted in implementing cost saving systems and procedures including triage service, job descriptions, formal Return to Work. Company was incident free for 90 days.
