What do you do if your Grant Administration team is struggling to attract and retain top talent?
Building a brand demands having a good social media presence and reputation. Stakeholders should look at the current reviews and what the street is saying about their culture. You are not going to attain top talent if your reviews on Glassdoor and other websites are poor. Pay attention to the comments that are repeated over and over and really work to change those action items. Key stakeholders should think about what their employees want...whether it's working from home, annual pay raises, better benefits, or flexibility in general. Look at companies in your space that are getting it right and ask makes them a great employer question is it mentorship, pay, work-life balance? Get forensic about it and then compare with your own environment.

What do you do if your Grant Administration team is struggling to attract and retain top talent?
Go back to basics and do a SWOT analysis of the department. Do a written analysis that all of the key stakeholders are involved in and get a copy of. Take the time to brainstorm as a team...write out strengths weaknesses opportunities and threats. What are the common denominators that people are listing? Part of the SWOT analysis could involve a third party assessment that would ask individual members their opinions on their job broken down into specific questions like work culture, happiness with current role, tools and training opportunities as well as overall satisfaction or dissatisfaction with the job. It needs to be anonymous, of course. That should give a clear picture of breakindowns in talent attraction and retention.
