Project REAL Cities - Bergamo 2035 | Smarter Citizens is an agreement for scientific collaboration between the University of Bergamo and the Graduate School of Design (GSD), Harvard University. It involves collaboration between students, researchers and teachers and the mutual mobility of students from different universities.
The research perspective is justified by the common willigness to investigate and analyze the main trends and scenarios that characterize the Smart City model in urban and rural areas in the coming decades, identify possible solutions to experience them in a prototype in the laboratory and, later, as pilot projects directly in the Bergamo area.
These project ideas, properly shared with some local actors (companies, organizations, institutions) may have a practical application and represent examples of practical implementation of the trends and patterns described above.
The program in 2015 focuses on two areas of inquiry: Zero Mile Manufacturing and Logistic and Local Food System Mapping and Design.

HK Village: The Star Ferry Terminal is one of the major gateways from Kowloon to Hong Kong. By redeveloping the terminal as a tripartite structure with a ground-level transportation center for buses and ferries, a raised plate containing a restaurant, grocery store, school, cinema, and other amenities, and a secondary ground plain with pencil towers perched high in the air, the terminal becomes it's own community.
