With Building Information Modeling (BIM), the architecture firm Y.A. studio was able to easily coordinate between team members and community stakeholders to create an affordable housing project in San Francisco. High levels of coordination was crucial for a project with tight timelines and budget. Even better, #BIM enabled the team to communicate their design ideas with realistic visualizations, and gain support and buy-in early on from most of the community, “no one's going to be surprised when the building opens up because we've been able to give them a sense of what it's going to look like from day one.” And by using Autodesk #Revit for design, the team was able to use a variety of plugins to explore design ideas that helped their client understand different options like landscaping in the rear yard, allowing for easier decision making. With sustainability in mind, the team is also pursuing a Platinum GreenPoint rating, meaning the building will be 100% electric. Want a Revit secret? Do you sometimes want to turn off all your Revit Addons? Renaming folders or files to do it? There is an easier way. The Revit.ini has a setting to turn off all Revit Addons at once. Add a section to your Revit ini called - "[API]" with the line "DisableUserAddinsAndMacros=1". Not sure where the ini is located? Go here to learn where: https://lnkd.in/efW7tm3t Set the 1 to a 0 to turn your addons back on. Both values require restarting Revit to take affect. PS - this works in older versions of Revit too (been around quite a while...

Last year at AU 2023, Qnect was proud to present with Jeffrey Smilow from WSP in the U.S. about Constructible BIM with Early Connected Models | Autodesk University. Smilow discussed WSP's vast experience delivering #earlyconnectedmodels, including its use on The Spiral in NYC. A recording of Smilow's compelling story is now public. This year at AU 2024, Qnect will present new technology that automates QAQC in Revit, making BIM deliverables more constructible. The session, called "Empowering Structural Engineers: Automating Constructibility Checks During Design," will educate #structuralengineers on how to resolve RFIs early that relate to modeling, engineering and constructability.
