What do you do if your career is stagnant and you need a boost?
public speaking without differentiated content is dead on arrival. what are you saying that your expected audience will not hear from anyone else? can be new facts, differentiated analysis or a fresh perspective…but you have to know what part of your speech is truly new…and that’s the focus.

What do you do if your boss's expectations in your Economics career are unrealistic?
understand why the boss is setting those expectations—what’s the mindset & incentive structure behind it—is essential. can’t start to address a challenge if you don’t know the motivation of the person on the other side of the dispute.

How do you avoid groupthink and encourage diverse perspectives and opinions online?
partisan polarization divides people into tribes bitterly pitted against each other—& there’s no forum as ripe for division as online. trust in objective truth/institutions of knowledge is at historic lows & we're bombarded w/ information confirming our biases thanks to algorithms optimized for user engagement. the antidote to groupthink? make the conscious choice to break out of your partisan bubble. push back against the algorithm that wants to lump you together with like-minded individuals & listen to as many perspectives as you can. most importantly: admit you’re a human who can get things wrong & change your mind when new information is presented to you. it wouldn’t hurt for us to give our fellow human beings that same grace as well.
