How do you communicate change management results visually?
Data is powerful. Harnessed properly, it can help validate strategy and reinforce changes. To create faith in new initiatives, it's helpful to invite robust discussion on the validity of the supporting data. Especially on critical strategic issues, we should challenge the audience to understand the underlying data. They often do not. To prove this, I've presented financial performance charts on competing initiatives. With a compelling story and stunning visuals, one project highlighted increased revenue. The other option, presented in a somewhat duller fashion, contained information showcasing increases in profit margin. The audience favored the project which had more visually pleasing data, not the one with stronger financial results.

How do you respectfully resolve employee conflicts?
Often we discuss workplace conflict in terms of how we should react to certain situations. In a dynamic, rapidly growing firm, simply operating from a playbook of typical HR responses to various scenarios has limitations. We cannot have a script that will cover all situations. More effective and productive workplaces take action before conflict arises. Many typical points of conflict can be avoided, at at least minimized in scope, by establishing clear standards and expectations on conduct as part of company's culture. Company cultures evolve and are shaped by what they allow. Clear expectations coupled with honest and consistent feedback will help identify concerns early and rectify many smaller issues before they become larger problems.
