How can you maximize your experience at motivational speaking conferences?
When I attend a motivational speech or conference, I set realistic and very concrete expectations. One, I try to walk away with one idea that I can implement when I return. Two, I look for some comment or phrase that I can dive deeper into, an idea, or topic that I might want to read more about or learn more. And three, I remember that the most important expectation of the experience is having fun and being open minded. Be really present when the person is speaking. Put your cell phone away. Put your work and family obligations to the side and be fully engaged. The single focus alone will help you gain better perspective.
