I’ve often shared how my entrepreneurship journey was born out of feeling as though my soul was dying in corporate. However, that’s only part of the story. I had been curious about photography for quite some time when I bought my first Canon Rebel. I purchased it after having a negative experience with a photographer I’d hired and remember thinking I would never want anyone to feel the way I felt. The photographer did their job from a technical standpoint, but the connection I needed to feel good in photos was missing. I didn’t feel seen or understood at all, nor did I feel like I looked like me. Drawing from that negative experience helped me curate human-focused experiences centered around connection and inclusivity as a photographer. These pillars have continued to be integral to my business as it’s expanded to include coaching and consulting. This is why it’s so magical when I get to support clients with their foundational brand messaging, client experiences, and brand photos. There are so many benefits to aligning all facets of your brand with an inclusive, human-focused approach that centers your values. I believe "BVpreneurship" is the firm of the future. I have defined this before, but I see BVpreneurship as practitioners who leverage the principles of business valuation and entrepreneurship to create the practice they want so they can have more impact on more clients and get more freedom for themselves. And I see this possibility for 1-3 person firms. Here's why. 👉 Conventional wisdom pushes "teamwork makes the dream work." But maybe that isn't what works for you. (It never did for me.) 👉 Conventional wisdom says two heads are better than one. But your laser-focused vision creates unstoppable momentum. 👉 Conventional wisdom believes bigger teams are better. But your nimbleness will permit you to outpace larger competitors. 👉 Conventional wisdom pushes the partner track and the corner office. But your track is different and you have the desire to work from where you want. I am not against larger firms. You probably aren't against them either. But with an assist from AI, the conventional wisdom is being reimagined. Embrace what you want, and reimagine what's possible for your future. To be sure, this paradigm is not for everyone.
