During my time as a Board Member, I served on Marketing and Special Events committees to increase branding in the community and raise fund to support JA's mission. Included were the Annual Hall of Fame Dinner, 50th Anniversary Celebration, National Financial Literacy Month, and many others! As a Classroom Mentor, I have delivered JA programs in elementary classes in Vigo and Clay counties. As a Classroom Mentor, I have delivered JA programs in elementary classes in Vigo and Clay counties. I volunteered for the "Let's Get Real" program which reached all 8th grade students in Vigo County. Through my affiliation with the Wabash Valley Human Resources Association, I was able to establish a partnership for HR professionals to volunteer at the Washington Alternative School. I coordinated volunteers to deliver the sessions and solicited donations for a student recognition event at the end of the program. This is now an ongoing partnership to allow HR professionalism to impact the career choices and lives of student in a high risk setting. Show less

As the first representative from the staffing industry to be approved for membership, I have been actively involved in the organization over many years. I served in all board positions and was elected President for two years. During one of my terms as President, I worked with Indiana State University to charter the first student SHRM chapter. My most successful board position was Membership Director, in which my committee recruited new members and supported retention of existing members.… Show more

While a Board Member, I was member of the Workforce Development Committee. This committee identified strategies to promote career opportunities in the Wabash Valley. We also worked with the community to address employer concerns and the skills gap of the existing workforce.

As a Board Member, I was responsible for the Fundraising Committee for 3 years. The largest event my committee organized was the annual Golf Scramble. Working with the Board, Executive Director and committee members, we were successful in exceeding our goals for teams, hole sponsors, and corporate donors.
