Sony has filed a patent for a new ‘Super-Fungible Token’ (SFT) that could alter how gamers own and trade in-game assets. Two basic questions: ⁉️ What’s an SFT? Basically, it would allow gamers to own a bundle of NFTs (in-game assets). ⁉️ Why SFTs? Good question—since it’s such early days, it isn’t entirely clear how it could be used, but it seems to simplify owning, purchasing and selling of NFTs as you can bundle multiple into one SFT. To me, it seems to be a bet by Sony that NFTs will be a big part of future gaming and they’re preparing the way for them to be more functional.

Consensys is suing the SEC to defend the Ethereum ecosystem!! The mortgage-backed securities (MBS) redemption cap will remain unchanged at $35 billion per month, with excess MBS principal payments being reinvested into treasuries. The Fed noted that risks to achieving its employment and inflation goals "have moved toward better balance over the past year," a slight change from the March policy statement, which stated that these risks "are moving into better balance." All of this happened in crypto this week 👇 1️⃣ Tether reports a $5.2B profit in H1 2024. "Tether announced a record with a new profit benchmark of $5.2B net profit in the first half of the year, with a $1.3B net operating profit in Q2 as USDT's market cap hit new highs." 2️⃣ Circle trades at $5B ahead of IPO. "Circle reached a $9B valuation in 2022 during a failed SPAC deal to go public. According to the report, Circle allows limited trading of its shares in the secondary market ahead of the IPO, but only on a case-by-case basis and in specific situations." 3️⃣ Coinbase posts $1.45B in Q2 revenue. "Net income dropped to $36 million compared to nearly $1.2 billion in Q1. Consumer transaction revenues declined to $665 million, a 29% drop when compared to Q1, while stablecoin revenues rose to over $240 million. " 4️⃣ Polymarket crosses $1B in cumulative volume. An increase in put options indicates traders' growing demand for downside protection following bitcoin's recent price correction, analysts said. According to Deribit data, the put-call ratio for bitcoin options open interest ahead of this Friday's weekly expiry has risen above one, which is seen as a bearish market signal. A ratio above one means significantly more put options than call options are being traded. This indicates that more investors are betting on or hedging against a price decline rather than an increase. Deribit data shows that the largest cluster of options open interest for Friday's expiry consists of puts at a strike price of $58,000, with significant concentrations of puts also at the $52,000 and $48,000 strike prices. Introducing: Universal RWA Blockchain Explorers (URBEs) This morning's epiphany comes courtesy of Anton Golub. Thanks to Anton's great article on RWA tokenization directly to chain, I came to the realization that perhaps our best bet for this entire portion of the industry is to begin by createing standards for a creature called a Universal RWA Blockchain Explorer (URBEs). In creating standards for URBEs, we begin to formulate the template to which all new RWA tokenizing, data-storage-optimized blockchains will need to communicate. This template will help to structure the future RWA Blockchains and will remove the sum-0 mentality of "One RWA blockchain to rule them all". This will help foster innovation and healthy competition, producing a variety of data-storage optimized RWA blockchains as well as their counterparts, and equally if not more importantly, Universal RWA Blockchain Explorers. These explorers are the window into what we will be creating: A system of independent RWA tokenizing/data storage optimized blockchains, which are ORacles, and fully searchable, as well as comparable. Perhaps through the aggregate, we will be able to store the entire world's asset credentials in a safe, fully distributed, and fully decentralized, fully geographically compliant, privacy-preserving manner.
