I'm excited to share the outcomes of my recent project in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Project Title: CFD Analysis of a drone propeller. Methodology: I conducted the analysis using ANSYS Workbench 2023 R1/ ANSYS Fluent. The simulation setup included 3D modeling in SolidWorks and mesh generation with specific sizing parameters. A transient solution over 250 timesteps of 0.001s each was calculated, followed by detailed post-processing using ANSYS CFD-Post Software. Tech-Stack: - Solidworks (for 3D model generation) - ANSYS Workbench 2023 R1/ANSYS Fluent This project provided valuable insights into the complexities of CFD analysis and the challenges of obtaining accurate solutions. While the results may not have been as precise as expected, the journey was both educational and enlightening.

Exciting Update: Completed the "SOLIDWORKS: Shell and Beam Modeling in FEA" course! This course was a fantastic opportunity to reinforce the knowledge of beam elements I acquired during my master's. My favorite part? Diving into shell elements! I took on a self-challenge and applied these concepts to the front part of a truck carrosserie, demonstrating how shell elements can significantly reduce computational costs. Continuous learning is crucial in our ever-evolving field. I encourage all my connections to keep expanding their skills and exploring new areas. Engineering life hack: Too chilly in your cube? Turn your tower around so the CPU fan is blowing toward you and fire up a complex FEA model. This might also work for keeping coffee warm, but I’ll have to run the CFD/Thermal Analysis to be sure.

This week at the Automate Show I had a really great conversation with Alvin Clark, a Sr. Developer Relations Manager at NVIDIA. My connection to NVIDIA is actually not new; they used to be my customer when I was the Silicon Valley Sales Manager at CST (now part of the Dassault Systemes - Simulia Software Portfolio) and also a partner for the development of high-performance engineering simulation using GPUs. I joined the NVIDIA Inception Program while developing supply chain AI at Algo - this program has now grown to a global network of over 18,000 technology startups! Fast forward a few years, after some twists and turns, now I get to partner with NVIDIA to learn and share ideas about innovation in robotics and AI for supercharging the manufacturing and automation industries, which I love! Based on Alvin's recommendations I managed to visit a few NVIDIA partner booths to see the practical applications being developed with their tech and it's a mix of industry heavy weights and newer startups: Universal Robots - dare I say the King of Cobots? One of the beautiful yet complex things for liquid propulsion is having a staged combustion cycle and imagine that too with throttle option! Imagine that injector design which doesn't compromise combustion efficiency to a great extent while changing mass flow rates!

I'm excited to share that I've created an assembly of a 4-Cylinder Engine using NX Cad. This project involved modeling the individual components like pistons, connecting rods, crankshaft, and cylinder head. Why do entry-level mechanical engineers struggle to design manufacturable parts? Because they've never been taught how to contact a manufacturer and ask questions about manufacturing. They've been taught how to analyze, optimize, and simulate. We need to encourage our young engineers that analysis and simulation is useful, but there's no need to overthink every problem. Reach out to a sheet metal vendor and ask if something can be formed easily. Don't try to make an Ansys model of the part to see if it will work. #manufacturing

We’ve merged two of my favorite things: triply periodic minimal surfaces (TPMS) lattices and in-situ control in laser powder bed fusion to engineer the microstructure and properties in AM parts. But first, a little insight into the challenging lives of international PhD students. From being away from home, working on low wages, and not being able to support our families in times of need, to rigorous brainstorming sessions to achieve that one breakthrough idea or get an experiment to work for a paper or dissertation – a process that can take months, if not years. Why do we persist? Passion and the sheer joy we experience when an experiment works, even for a fleeting moment, drive us forward. It’s a thrill like no other. In challenging times, a small morale boost can transform a negative mindset into a positive one, reminding us that things will eventually work out. This work has seen its share of blood, sweat, and even a few drops of tears. After two years of dedication, it stands as a testament to the belief that good things come to those who never give up and sometimes know when to stop and share it with the world. To all the PhD students and researchers out there, never lose faith in your ideas. Your breakthrough moment will come when you need it the most. MSC Adams Although I initially struggled to familiarize myself with MSC Adams and its graphical user interface, I found it to be one of the best and most reliable multibody dynamics simulation software packages available. It is particularly beneficial for mechanical engineers aiming to solve complex dynamics problems. While working on a stair-climbing project, I needed to extract dynamic data to validate the mechanical design. Based on my experience, I highly recommend MSC Adams for engineers interested in dynamics simulations and computational engineering. Just wrapped up a fun project where I used SolidWorks Simulation to do some fatigue and static analysis on a vehicle suspension system. This was purely for practice, but I learned a ton! 🔍 **What I Did:** I picked a vehicle suspension system to see how it holds up under different conditions. Using SolidWorks Simulation, I ran a couple of analyses: 1. **Static Analysis:** Checked how the suspension handles maximum loading conditions. This helped me spot where the stress points are and where things might break. 2. **Fatigue Analysis:** Looked at how the suspension components would perform over time with repeated loading. This gave me an idea of the system's durability and where it might need design tweaks. 📊 **What I Learned:** - **Stress Points:** The static analysis showed me where the most stress happens, which is super useful for making improvements. - **Durability:** The fatigue analysis helped me understand how long the suspension might last under normal use. 💡 **Why It's Cool:** Suspension systems are key for a smooth and safe ride. By simulating different scenarios, we can predict issues and improve designs before they become real problems. It's all about making cars safer and more reliable!
