What do you do if your team members resist delegation and empowerment in an interview?
Empowering your team members with best-in-class interview techniques will help increase their confidence. When team members are skilled interviewers, they present the company in the best light to potential candidates. This can improve the company's reputation in the industry and attract top talent. In addition, trained interviewers are better at assessing candidates accurately, asking the right behavioral-based interview questions, and identifying the best fit for the role and company culture. This in-turn will also mitigate potential compliance issues as well as unconscious biases, leading to a more diverse and inclusive workforce.

You're a new executive manager. How do you build a network that will help you succeed?
Find a credible champion for your ideas. Champions often have established influence and a broad network within the organization. They can help ensure your idea gets the attention it deserves from the right people, including decision-makers. A champion can be the difference between an idea gaining traction and it being overlooked. They play a critical role in bridging the gap between innovators and the often complex, bureaucratic structures of larger organizations.

You’re about to negotiate a promotion. What are some common mistakes you should avoid?
When negotiating a promotion, avoid phrases like "I need this promotion" or "I deserve this because I've been here for a long time." Instead, focus on your achievements, contributions, and the value you bring to the company. Emphasize your commitment to growth and how your skills align with the responsibilities of the new role.

Regretfully, many current talent strategies and processes are still a series of random and disjointed steps on top of a cumbersome technology platform that only frustrates the user and provides little real time information, let alone predictive analytics.
Imagine if we had fully integrated workforce plans where all our systems speak the same language, where the full talent life cycle is connected, where HR and finance sit at the same table and measure the same data points.
We hear over and over that ‘Talent’ is the most important asset and yet cost per hire is still one of the number one metrics measured-imagine if we rewarded hiring managers based on how well they hire and promote the talent brand. Erica has been in the talent space for 25 years working for prestigious firms such as GE, Novartis, and IBM. She will be sharing best practices and her opinion on the future of talent and the direction of HR.
