Myself and Mosaic are looking for an experienced BDR/SDR or Senior BDR/SDR, whatever you call it these days, to join our team in New York. Instead of another post listing generic numbers and perks and such, I'm going to share my experience joining Mosaic last year in a similar capacity, a decision I consider to be a pretty good career choice. Prior to Mosaic I was the top-performing SDR/BDR at the same company for 2 and a half years. Leading all metrics across my team for the majority of that timeframe (I promise I'm not bragging for no reason here), I found myself appreciated, but had no path for growth into sales or other avenues. This wasn't at the fault of my previous company, circumstances larger than myself at the time just didn't allow it. I'll always be grateful for my experience there. But for anyone who's been in a Business Development role for more than a year, you know it can be draining, and you understand how you can desire more responsibility, compensation, and new experiences. I came across Mosaic, which needed an experienced BDR/SDR to bolster that area of the business. The team here promised me directly that if I joined and performed to the best of my ability, within reasonable time, they would both train me and move me into a full-sales role to progress my career in a way that I desperately wanted and felt I was ready for. What should be most appealing about this opportunity is that I delivered, and then Mosaic delivered on our promises. Some months in, I first found myself in a team lead role, and now find myself working my own deals, closing my first last month. Next week marks my fourth month in SaaS sales since leaving the classroom (Can’t believe it)! Here's what's fueled some of my early success: 📅 Building My Schedule Around When I’m Most Productive: The early bird catches the worm! Starting my day at 7 am, for me, sets the tone for maximum productivity. 📞 Dealing with Rejection: Embracing rejection and laughing off hang-ups has been key to securing meetings with key accounts. 📧 Non-Negotiable Daily Activities: Daily goals keep me on track - 10-15 emails, at least 100 calls (Salesfinity makes this easy), and an hour on LinkedIn for social selling. Cross them off the list for that sweet satisfaction! 🎥 Watching Tape: Reviewing call recordings helps me spot and fix bad habits. I also watch our stellar AEs demos at Amplemarket. Every time I watch a demo I learn something about our solution. 📚 Investing in Quality Learning Materials: From books to podcasts like 30 Minutes to President's Club, and courses from pclub.io I'm soaking up knowledge from top sales thinkers like Kevin "KD" Dorsey, Florin Tatulea, Trent Dressel, and Chris Orlob and putting their insights into action. 🎓💡 Where I need to improve: 🎯 Balancing Work, Focus, and Health: Striving for a healthier balance between work and life, focusing on what I can control, and reintegrating exercise into my routine (I’ve been slipping). While I'm far from being the finished product, I'm relishing every step of the journey, prioritizing the process over the destination. 🚀

🌟 Exciting News Update 🌟 I am absolutely thrilled to announce that I've been recognized as the Top Q1 Enterprise BDR Performer across our entire Business Development team exceeding 200%, and also the Top BDR to have the highest Sales Programs success/utilization for Accelerated Industries at MuleSoft | Salesforce 🚀 As I reflect on these achievements, I'm filled with immense gratitude for the incredible journey of the past quarter. It's been a period marked by strengthened partnerships with my AEs, where trust, mentorship, and even friendships have flourished. 🤝 Stepping beyond the traditional BDR role to join later-stage onsite meetings has been an immensely rewarding experience. Within my first few days being in tech sales, I’ve realized a few things early on as a BDR: Building strong relationships with clients will prove to be your greatest asset rather than being technical. Staying organized will put you steps ahead of your competition. You’re speaking to some of the smartest people you’ll ever meet. Building out a strategic approach for every account will ultimately help you set more qualified meetings. There is ALWAYS something new to learn. Let me know some more tips and tricks!

As an SDR, staying focused during a call block can be a challenge with frequent distractions. Taking breaks every 45 minutes might sound counterproductive, but it's a game-changer! It's the perfect time to refocus and chat with other SDRs about what's working and what we can do better. Trust me, if you do nothing but call for 2 hours straight, the quality drops off massively. Hot take: Working hard is better than working smart. At least in the beginning. When you first start as an SDR, you don't know how to work smart. You learn mostly through trial and error. Those who work the hardest will move through this process quickly. They fail faster than everyone else and accelerate their learning process. You can learn how to work smart. Hard work and drive comes from within.

SDR should really stand for So (many) Different Roles, including: -sdr (the job you are "on paper" hired for) -copywriter (to build out multiple cadences that aren't boring or generic) -undercover detective (to find out your prospect's favorite ice cream flavor or a twitter post from 2014 to seem "relevant" in your outreach) -litigator (to handle objections at every turn) -marketing (building out custom decks/one-pagers that actually resonate) -notetaker/transcriber (gong does this now but still) -personal assistant (follow-up and touch points after initial call) what else did I miss? 😅 #sdr #techsales #AE #bdr

Diary of an SDR : Cold Calling Fears? Let Me Tell You About My First "Cold Call" Picture this: One phone in the house, a number scribbled on a piece of paper, and a teenage me sweating bullets. The mission? Ask a girl I met at a party to the movies. The obstacle? The paralyzing fear of rejection. After what felt like hours of pacing, I finally dialed. And who answers? Her Dad! Cue the driest mouth in history and some awkward small talk that felt like an eternity. When she finally came to the phone, I stumbled through my invitation... only to get rejected anyway. Ouch! Fast forward to today, and here's the kicker: Compared to that nerve-wracking experience, cold calling as an SDR feels like a walk in the park! Here's what I've learned: 1. The fear is often worse than the reality. 2. Every "no" gets you closer to a "yes." 3. Even rejection has its upsides - it builds resilience. So, to all my fellow SDRs out there dreading that next call: - Remember, you're not asking anyone to an awkward school dance. - The person on the other end won't judge your entire worth based on one call. - And hey, at least it's not their dad answering! Cold calling might never be a walk in the park, but with each dial, it gets a little easier. And who knows? Your next call might just be the one that lands that big meeting. Today marks 3 years at Amplemarket and I am even more excited for what is to come than when I first started. We are on the verge of being a category creator and it is thanks to everyone on our incredible team. I've learned so much in these past three years from starting as an SDR and being promoted to an AE. Two pieces of advice I'd give to anyone in a closing role would be: 1. You should be driving deals, not chasing them Analyze every single step of your deals and think of the customer's journey. Identify where you tend to be losing opportunities and think of how you can change your process to fill those gaps. Ask your colleagues for feedback since sometimes you are so close to the problem that you miss it when the solution is right under your nose. 2. Control the controlables This is a healthy mindset to have and remember. Focus on what you can actually do throughout a deal and where you can be most impactful. There are so many different variables that are up in the air when a company enters a buying motion and some of them are completely out of your reach. The day to day of sales reps will be drastically different in a year from now and I'm confident Amplemarket will be one of the main reasons why.

So here's what you need to do: Think about the day you had yesterday. Identify what went well and what didn't. Explain it a brief summary. And then post that summary. That's all you need to do to get started.
