Market Update: EID is coming up this weekend. A large population of driver's that celebrate will be taking time off, affecting capacity. The largest impact, which is already being seen, will be long-haul loads OUTBOUND California (specifically between Fresno/Sacramento, but affecting the LA area as well). Van and Reefer capacity is already tightening up, and rates will continue to increase. Below are some action items to be aware of: Outbound Cali spot freight should be carefully and prudently planned. Expect rate increases. If your carriers have "truck-in-hand" issues, it may be difficult to source another in time. Increase visibility and communication efforts with your partners between now and Wednesday (6/19). Starting Thursday things should ease up. Have a great weekend!

Happy National Logistics Day! People sometimes get annoyed when they are having to share the road with tractor trailer trucks but do you know how important they are? Without these trucks, and the dedicated drivers, your household supplies, foods, and everyday luxuries would not get to where they need to be. That Amazon item you ordered, was on a truck. During COVID, these trucks kept moving the supply chain so you could have that toilet paper that was in such high demand. These trucks can have up to 80,000lbs to try and stop, give them space. Today, and everyday actually, please take a moment and thank someone in the transportation industry. Something I learned today that I probably already should have known being in logistics. Carriers need a MCP: Motor carrier permit to pick up and deliver freight within the state of California. They can pick it up and deliver outside of Cali or pick it and deliver it to Cali, but for Cali to Cali…there must be a MCP. Three logistics companies in the San Diego were found to be paying Mexican nationals extremely low wages, as low as $2.77 per hour, according to an investigation.
