Great to see Congress turning attention to the tremendous opportunities and extensive challenges that exist around the coming landscape of global sporting events in the United States. #Sports plays an increasingly powerful and influential role in our society and in the perception of our country around the world. We must take a more active approach to engaging in #sportsdiplomacy and #sportspolicy. A "special visa process" for the World Cup is desirable, but will take a substantial amount of coordination across agencies and Congress. Looking forward to future conversations and to have Jetr Global Sports + Entertainment continue to help lead this conversation about the importance of #immigration to the global expansion of sports. ====== U.S. government working to ensure foreign fans can easily attend 2026 World Cup - 6.17.2024 While the FIFA World Cup 2026™ - Canada, Mexico and the United States hosted in North America is still two years away, there is now a “furious effort” underway by the U.S. government and FIFA “to make sure the event is pulled off without a hitch,” according to CNN’s Manu Raju. With 48 teams now competing in the event, the U.S.’s “already strained” immigration system will be “put to a major test” as not only will the teams' players and staff need visas, but so will the estimated five million international fans that are expected to travel to the 16 host cities in the U.S., Mexico and Canada. Lawmakers said that with nearly 80 of the 104 matches taking place in the U.S., it has required a “massive amount of coordination between Washington, local governments and FIFA.” In addition to planning for the security measures, members of the Congressional Soccer Caucus said that the U.S. will “likely need a special visa process so fans can move between countries more easily,” including people from countries “where it's not normally easy to enter into the United States.” Rep. Darin LaHood (R-Ill.) -- a member of the soccer caucus -- said the biggest issue will be “working with Canada and Mexico and the United States on a visa system that is unique and different than anything we've done before.” Raju noted FIFA President Gianni Infantino recently visited Capitol Hill where he met with Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-La.), House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.), Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and several cabinet secretaries (“Inside Politics,” CNN, 6/16).

As we bask in the aftermath of the Masters Tournament, it's thrilling to see how vibrant the golf scene has become. The latest findings from The Pulse of the Golf Consumer report reveal a significant upswing in golf's popularity. 📊 Key Insights: ⛳️123 million Americans engaged with golf last year in various forms, marking a 14% increase over five years. ⛳️An impressive 95% of core golfers are planning to play as much or more in 2024. ⛳️The female golf segment is showing particularly strong growth, with a 25% increase in participation over the last four years. ⛳️Social media continues to be a powerful platform for golf, with over 50 million Americans consuming golf-related content. Golf - The Evolving Business Model. The men's professional game of #golf continues to be as divided as many of the stakeholders in the US political arena. We saw it yet again this past weekend, when one of the games showcase events "The Masters" was played at Augusta in Georgia, USA. Broadcasters seemingly, and incredibly unprofessionally, went out of their way to discredit the presence of the #LIVGolf league players who were in attendance along with their #PGATour colleagues over the course of the week. All of the sly and sarcastic interludes throughout the broadcast did not get lost on the fans of the game, as the internet lit up as if it were some kind of heated debate between passionate #Democrats and #Republicans. #PGA pundits making sly remarks about the LIV players not being able to manage playing 72 holes over the week, because the rival LIV tournaments are played over 54 holes over three days. This got me thinking. Who actually invented the concept of 18 holes for a round of golf, and how did 72 holes become the 'norm" for a golf tournament? Well you might be surprised to learn that at the traditional home of golf, St Andrews in #Scotland, the course originally consisted of 22 holes. 11 holes out, and 11 holes back in. This was later shortened when holes were merged together. Yet back then there was no standard, some tournaments even featured courses that had just 12 holes. It's when we jump back over the Atlantic once again to understand that The Masters tournament was originally played over eighteen holes over three days, eighteen holes were played each day for the first two days, and then a final 36 holes were played on the third day. Co-founder of 'The Masters" , Amateur golfer Bobby Jones suggested that the tournament should be played over four days so more tickets could be sold, and other events could be built around the week, so it was born, the concept, and norm that a golf tournament was to be played over eighteen holes over the course of four straight days. Other major tournaments followed suit such as 'The Open' and the 'PGA Championships'. In June 2021 the disruptors came into the game, the LIV Golf league. LIV introduced three day and fifty four hole tournaments. Ever since then the internal flames on mens professional golf has become an out of control wildfire. Players, fans and administrators are all embroiled in a never ending circus that started in 2021, over 250 years after the game was invented. The question is, when will the adults enter the room and realize that for mens professional golf to prosper the ego's need to be put aside so that the sustainable future of the game can be created which for now, is the only thing that matters. The only thing that matters.

💡 B2B Sports Go-To-Market Tip Learn the financial implications of your go-to-market efforts. By no means am I an expert on the financial side of the business but this can give revenue leaders a leg up in their career. Your CEO/President/CFO have a holistic view of the business from both the revenue and expense side and can appropriately assess the ROI of all of your go-to-market investments. If you are looking to move into an executive leadership role this is something to learn now. As an integrated go-to-market team it's important to assess performance and investments across all areas (Sales, Marketing, Customer Success) and not through a siloed department lens. These investments can be in technology products, headcount, programs, events, etc. To make this transition there needs to be honest dialogue, transparency and humility as a leadership team. We are very protective of our business units at times to the detriment of our organization but our first priority is to move the business forward and not only our individual areas. This is an area that I've had to grow and continue to grow everyday. For good reason, go-to-market investments are under more scrutiny and profitability is a top priority for executive leadership. That means as revenue leaders we need to be able to attribute these investments to driving the desired business outcomes. #gtm #profitability

I had the honor of co-chairing the Pro Sports Assembly Retreat for the second year, alongside the incomparable Oracio Galindo and Jamil Northcutt, Ph.D. Over 100 leaders from teams, leagues, venues, and affiliates gathered in Austin, TX, to delve into topics crucial for a sustainable career in sports.  Coming from outside the sports industry, having this brain trust and network of support has been invaluable. Thank you to Pro for creating this space, Laura Dixon for your vision, Jamil and OG for being incredible co-chairs, and to the many sub-committee chairs, speakers, MCs, Pro staff, and members who came to Austin. This innovative initiative promises to transform how we understand the performance and valuation of sports franchises. 🔍 What is the SFI? The Sports Franchise Index offers a comprehensive and transparent measure of the financial and operational health of sports franchises. The most effective Performance Evaluation format I've used in managing ticket sales reps worked like this   Standard XY Axis Chart   X Axis – Cultural Performance (Comprised of a set of Core Values identified by our Leadership Team) Y Axis – Sales Performance (Sales Goals/Expectations vs. Peers)   Equal Weight Given to Sales Performance & Cultural Performance   Quadrant 1 (Top Right) – Exceeds Cultural & Sales Expectations Quadrant 2 (Bottom Right) – Exceeds Cultural Expectations, Below Sales Expectations Quadrant 3 (Top Left) – Exceeds Sales Expectations, Below Cultural Expectations Quadrant 4 (Bottom Left) – Below Cultural & Sales Expectations   The Results of Using This & Acting On the Evaluations was GREAT SALES CULTURE, for two reasons 1) Top Sales Performance AND Cultural Performance was rewarded, which led to others following that example 2) Lack of Cultural Performance (regardless of Sales Performance) was not rewarded nor allowed to continue #linkedinsports #sportsbiz #sportsbusiness
