I'm a board member for the Huntington Area CVB, and a walking, talking billboard for travel and entertainment for the Huntington Area. I've created five downtown walking tours in our region, and continue to champion our area, and savor its diverse offerings. I really enjoyed my stint as a volunteer board member for the Coalition and being a connector for some neat projects. Under the leadership of Bob Hansen, and now Amanda Coleman, there has been a sea change of positive outcomes at the Coalition from solar panels, and bicycle program to the myriad of services that help make folks whole again and ready to return to the workforce. I am board president for Hope in the Hills, the non-profit that produces and organizes the annual Healing Appalachia concert at the State Fair of West Virginia. The fourth annual concert is set for September 2023. We are currently working on not only sponsoring beds at regional recovery centers, but also adding in songwriting and music therapy sessions and offering grants to folks working with those in recovery and offering projects to support those impacted by the opioid crisis in Appalachia… Show more

As the president of my high school alumni association I helped guide the group from giving away two $750 scholarships to more than $20K annually, helping connect and reconnect alumni who now live around the country.

For seven years I was assistant scoutmaster of Troop 21 that has been in Huntington, West Virginia for more than 75 years. In 2019, I was one of the volunteers of the year in the Adena District, Buckskin Council. Last year, our troop had three Eagle Scouts AND had to move when our church Beverly Hills Presbyterian shut down. We are now based at Highlawn Presbyterian Church in Huntington.
