My PhD student Omri Matania colaborated with Prof. Itai Dattner, Prof. Ron S. Kenett  and Prof. Yisrael Parmet and led a systematic literature review of deep learning for vibration-based fault diagnosis of critical rotating machinery. In the last decade, thousands of papers have been published on machine-learning for diagnosing faults in rotating machinery using vibration signals. A combination of deep learning and domain adaptation has replaced traditional physical and signal-processing techniques. Using real-world examples, this study reviews the literature on deep learning for fault diagnosis in rotating machinery. With several examples of labeled or unlabeled faulty signals, the review highlights current limitations in systems. In conclusion, the study suggests directions in which deep learning can be implemented successfully, contributing to enhancing current diagnostic capabilities. https://lnkd.in/dU8GznnH
