I've got a few simple resume tips for anyone interested - keep an updated digital resume file on your iPhone/Android so you can access it when needed. Perusing the job boards from your phone? Find yourself at a networking event? Or, maybe someone just looped you into an email trying to help you with an introduction...voila, regardless of the scenario you've got your resume READY and at your finger tips. Include both your phone number and email address..seems simple but the reason for this IMO post is because I was just wanting to reach out to someone a second ago and their # isn't anywhere on their resume. Lastly, peer edit! Leverage your family, friends, mentors, or someone completely objective to help lay a second set of eyes on it and give you some feedback. #resume #jobsearch #alwaysready

🚀 Balancing Tradition and Innovation in Aerospace Quality 🚀 Recently, my 5-year-old son asked me, "Papa, what do you do at Boeing?" This simple question led to a profound conversation about my role as a Regional Manager managing supplier quality, and it got me thinking about how to explain it in a way that's simple yet meaningful. I told him, "Imagine we Quality Folks are like a superhero for quality at Boeing. Just like superheroes ensure everything is safe and perfect, we make sure all the parts we use to make airplanes are also safe and perfect. It's like assembling a perfect puzzle so airplanes can fly safely in the sky." His curious mind didn't stop there. He asked how come airplanes looker nicer now than the older airplanes and if new airplanes are healthier then old airplanes?.. I paused for a moment and asked him, why are you asking this question.. he then citing his grandpa's view on old farming practices being healthier that current day farming. His question resonated deeply, sparking reflections on the balance between tradition and innovation in aerospace quality. While we celebrate technological advancements in the aerospace industry, my son's question made me pause and reflect: Are these advancements truly enhancing quality? Are defect rates improving? may be- yes! but... long way to go I guess! His perspective reminded me of the importance of going back to basics in Aerospace Quality Management. Just as old farming methods can offer valuable insights, revisiting timeless quality practices may enhance safety and reliability in aerospace. As we embrace innovation, let's not forget the wisdom of the past. In an effort to become more competitive, manufacturing leaders have grown up in the culture of process improvements- Lean, Six Sigma, the Toyota way, etc where the focus is on saving time and making the process more efficient. However, in complex scheduling problems, (like those found in manufacturing aircraft or ships) an hour saved doesnt mean an hour earned- because savings on jobs not on the dynamic critical chain do NOT decrease the projects flow. So why do we still talk about all savings projects as if they are equal?

🚨 Mid-Week Motivation 🚨 A common pitfall statement I have become too familiar with is, "That is for the future me." Often I utilize that statement in regards to some task that I plan to defer for a later date. However, in reflection, I found myself in concentration on the presumptuous nature of that statement. The very concept of procrastination is to assume you are owed another opportunity to seize that moment. Procrastination is a common challenge that many people face. It often stems from a variety of factors such as fear of failure, perfectionism, or simply feeling overwhelmed by tasks. While it might provide temporary relief, procrastination can lead to increased stress, reduced productivity, and missed opportunities. Overcoming procrastination requires self-awareness, setting realistic goals, breaking tasks into smaller, manageable steps, and developing effective time management strategies. Embracing a proactive approach not only enhances personal and professional growth but also fosters a sense of accomplishment and well-being. So I encourage you to join me in embracing the challenge of Carpe Diem: seize each opportunity with intention and purpose, push beyond the comfort zone of procrastination, and make every moment count. The new cutting-edge #solidrocketmotor configuration that will be static fired later this year as part of our 2024 Solid Motor Annual Rocket Technology Demonstrator (SMART Demo) successfully completed Critical Design Review. Let's talk about the controversial "gotcha" interview question! 👹 As a candidate, I've dreaded these questions due to their unexpected nature. As an interviewer, I strive to avoid them, focusing instead on aligning experience, attitude, aptitude, and cultural fit. However, I believe "gotcha" questions can be beneficial when asked thoughtfully and with good intentions. When faced with a "gotcha" question, you have to think on your feet and support your answer with context (facts, stories, etc.). The focus should be on how you arrive at your answer, not the answer itself. Using "gotcha" questions this way allows interview teams to assess your critical thinking and how you handle unexpected situations. Do you agree/disagree?
