Volunteer Experience

  • The Salvation Army Graphic

    8th Grade Counselor

    The Salvation Army

    - 3 months

    Children

I looked after eighth graders at San Francisco's Chinatown Corp summer day camp. Like the previous summer, I also took them on field trips, completed projects and activities with them, and taught them a variety of lessons. Because they were closer to my age, I acted more as a friend, and was available if they ever needed any other help. I also co-led the camp's tennis club, and taught 4th-8th graders how to play.

    2nd Grade Counselor

    The Salvation Army

    - 3 months

    Children

I looked after second graders at San Francisco's Chinatown Corp summer day camp. I was able to take them on field trips around the city, assist in group activities and projects, and teach them academic and life lessons. I also acted as a role model for them, making sure that they learned basic skills - such as manners - necessary to survive in this world.
