Here's how you can effectively showcase your qualifications and experience during an interview.
The most effective way is to quantify your qualifications and experience with examples. These examples are best achieved through storytelling especially in an interview. However, the stories are best delivered within a framework where you can show how (the Action) you achieved for your team or the company and more importantly, follow the Action with examples of Results of how you did this. For example, in one of my past interviews, I shared how I grew ERG membership and engagement from a starting membership of 10 to 52 members within the first year and I provided various methods I used to achieve the results. Storytelling is power when used effectively. And more importantly, stories can keep your interviewer engaged when done the right way.

Here's how you can restore your professional reputation after a failure.
The best way to restore your professional reputation is to first recognize your mistakes and own it right away. From there you should openly admit to your direct supervisor if you have one. Doing so will allow trust to be consistent throughout the working relationship. And also, it will show that you are able to recognize your mistakes. Moreover, you will be regarded as someone who is open to communication but also as someone who is open to learning and growing. I believe that allowing room for mistakes sets the stage for future tips on how to make better decisions and also how to better build relationships as an individual contributor and as someone who works on a team.

How can you establish clear and realistic mentoring goals?
I’m currently a mentor with Ustrive where I mentor high school students who are navigating college for the first time. Most of these students are first generation who are also underserved and/or from marginalized communities. My approach when working with students is for them to use storytelling as a way to envision what their goals and timelines are and to use storytelling as a way to communicate and articulate what that looks like for them. Because many of the students I work with also have a language barrier we brainstorm and meet by video chat to just talk it out. This method is most effective when they are working to write their colleges essay for example . We develop their story and work on the logistics and cohesiveness from there.

How do you develop trust and rapport with your mentor or mentee from a different background or identity?
One thing I’ve found helpful as a mentor or a mentee is to accept that there will be a learning curve for all involved. Also, go into the relationship with the understanding that everyone has a lived experience that may or may not impact the relationship and often times may make communication difficult. However, communication won’t be impossible. So, keep an open mind and open heart. As someone, who has been both mentor and mentee, it’s important to realize that these lived experiences can teach empathy, be a catalyst for relationship building, and also instill confidence. These soft skills can be instrumental in the workplace for early career professionals and can also be useful as you advance in your career.

Actively assists in organizing a yearly Thanksgiving Food Drive to help day laborers have a meaningful and loving meal during the holidays. Each year I make sure a box of food containing Thanksgiving essentials such as a turkey or ham, boxes of side dishes like rice or mashed potatoes, as well as breakfast items like cereal and other canned goods are provided to families on Thanksgiving morning. The day of volunteering also includes a hot breakfast, free clothing and toys for the children.
