It is difficult to narrow down how much Cynthia has brought to me and to our organization in a few words as there are so many great example of her skills, talent and ability to lead and drive Partner incentives in an impactful and meaningful way. - Cynthia takes ownership – she took on a program that had passed hands several times in the past months prior to her joining. Needless to say, it was not easy bringing it back to order while learning. She took on the task with limited onboarding and was able to turn the program back into a success in just a few months. - Cynthia manages with integrity – she brings her true self to work and will always reach for the highest standards. She looks at the flaws of the programs and processes as opportunities and drives to increase all standards. - Cynthia is a problem-solver – No issue is too big for Cynthia, she’ll work tirelessly to overcome challenges. - Cynthia leads with actions – may it be onboarding new people, going deep in the weeds to analyze and solve a situation, elevating from tactics to vision to ensure buy-in; Cynthia acts to drive change instead of just talking about it. This has allowed her to take on strategic tasks such as leading the definition of the team’s strategy for the next year. I feel very lucky to have spent time learning from and driving meaningful changes with Cynthia. She is wonderful at building rapport, making it a pleasure to work with her on a daily basis. I look forward to working with her again in the future and believe she is a true asset and a great addition to any team.”

Flexibility is necessary for collaboration; however, it should not be misused to remove structure or organization from your meeting cadences. By the mere fact that you are allowed to work remotely (or meet remotely), your manager (and company) are supporting flexibility. When you are on a team, for example, you have to meet regularly, as a team. Typically, this requires everyone to give and take. One person is a night owl but the other is an early bird. So, be flexible as you both compromise to find a meeting time that can work. Maybe it’s a bit earlier than you prefer, but recognize it’s later than you peer prefers. Being “flexible” is just as much about you being flexible as it is your peers being flexible.

It’s not difficult to do so, but trust must be earned. When working on a project, and you are assigned tasks, deliver on your commitments. When you say, “I’ll send that report over to you later today,” you actually have to send it that day. Or, if you say, “I’ll take on that task,” then you must handle it, all the way through to completion. Your word is your bond, so you need to live accordingly. And, remember to report back to the team that you delivered on your promises. Do it once or twice, and your team will know they can count on you. You will have earned their trust.
