What do you do if technology becomes a crutch in motivational speaking?
I don’t use any technology other than the microphone in my speeches. No PowerPoint. No audio/visual. Think about the greatest speeches of all time. They were all done with just the voice. The Sermon on the Mount. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech. JFK telling us that we should not ask what our country can do for us, but what we can do for our country. A powerful speaker doesn’t need technology.

How can you quickly build rapport with an audience as a motivational speaker?
It is always about transparency. The audience needs to KNOW you. They need to feel that connection and know that you are a person who is authentic and someone they can learn from. Reveal yourself to them - of course in an appropriate way for the situation.

There will come a time when you must decide to lead the life someone else has chosen for you…or the life you want.
According to legend, when a young boy asked the great Renaissance artist Michelangelo why he was working so hard hitting the block of marble that would eventually become his greatest sculpture, David, the artist replied, “Young man, there is an angel inside this rock, and I am setting him free.” In The Angel Inside, the renowned consultant and career coach Chris Widener uses…There will come a time when you must decide to lead the life someone else has chosen for you…or the life you want.
According to legend, when a young boy asked the great Renaissance artist Michelangelo why he was working so hard hitting the block of marble that would eventually become his greatest sculpture, David, the artist replied, “Young man, there is an angel inside this rock, and I am setting him free.” In The Angel Inside, the renowned consultant and career coach Chris Widener uses Michelangelo’s words to explore the hidden potential that exists within us all.
In this unforgettable tale, Tom Cook, a disillusioned American businessman, has traveled to Italy looking for direction in his life. In Florence, the last city on his tour, Tom meets a mysterious old man who opens his eyes to the art and life of Michelangelo and reveals what the artist’s work can teach him—and all of us—about the power of following your passion.
Among the lessons that Tom learns over the course of the next day:
- The beauty is in the details
- Your hand creates what your mind conceives
- All great accomplishments start with a single swift action
- No one begins by creating the Sistine Chapel
Whether you’re looking for a way to reinvigorate your career or searching for the courage to begin a new one, THE ANGEL INSIDE is a must-read if you want to find true meaning in your life and work.
The break-out business parable that’s already sold more than 70,000 copies, The Angel Inside tells the story of a young man searching for meaning in his work and finding it in an unlikely place: the life and art of Michelangelo

A powerful tale that shows that business success does not come from Ivy League degrees but from an individual's own personal courage and commitment to succeed. You'll meet Marcus Drake, a new M.B.A. with huge goals, who spends a weekend with one of the world's richest and most powerful businessmen, Bobby Gold.
Through chauffeured limos and meeting top sports figures, the young man is star struck and intimidated by the entrepreneur's clout and wealth, which he assumes are the result of aggressive business strategies. Drake's eyes are opened, however, to Gold's Four Rules of Influence, which reveal the difference between the "science of business" and the art of true influence.

"Time is free, but it's priceless. You can't own it, but you can use it. You can't keep it, but you can spend it. Once you've lost it you can never get it back." I love this quote by Harvey MacKay, one of my contemporaries in the author and motivational speaker space. It shows the value of time; the one thing we ALL have. What we do with it, now that makes the difference. How do we achieve balance and make the most of our time? Read on .....
Time is yours...Use It!

Every day for the past five years she had gotten up and commuted to her office in Seattle to engage in the wheels of commerce. Right out of business school she had secured a job with a prestigious firm that handled high level business transactions and business exchanges.
She enjoyed her work, but something held her back. Something kept her from living fully engaged in the process. It was her questions about how her faith fit with being a successful businessperson. She wondered if she could be a truly strong person of faith if she was also trying to be successful in the marketplace. Was it okay to be ambitious? To set goals? To have increasing wealth and affluence?
This book is compelling, to the point and addresses questions so many have struggled to answer in their lives. Chris Widener and his unique ability to weave vital success principles into a story will inspire you to Go For It and to Reach for your God-given potential!
This is one book you will refer to again and again and give away again and again! The Image makes a great gift.
